Sorry if duplicate post, haven't seen it mentioned. Rumours of this earlier today, at least Balo off to Firenze with/without Gomez coming the other way.

Can't see that, Gomez like tekkers doesn't fit into our way of playing. They can have Balo for at least 12m though.

[article]Mario Balotelli’s first Coach believes a move from Liverpool to Fiorentina would be “intriguing for him and the club.”

The Italy international is looking for a return to his homeland so he can be closer to his family following the death of his father last week.

Sport Mediaset claim the two clubs are in negotiations for an exchange, sending Balotelli to Florence for Mario Gomez.

“I’d be happy for him, because Fiorentina would be another chance that he deserves,” Vincenzo Esposito told Firenzeviola.it.

Esposito was SuperMario’s Coach in the Inter Primavera youth team, so knows the fiery forward well.

“I trained him for many years in the youth academy at Inter and can guarantee that to show all of his quality he just needs a new project, something where he can feel at the centre of it.

“Florence has already shown it’s a great place for players to revive their careers. It’s an intriguing idea, I must admit. It’d be good for Mario and Fiorentina.”

There are still question marks over his character and work-rate, something Esposito fully acknowledges.

“Everything can be overcome at his age, especially as much of the reputation he’s got was his fault. Mario is a player who without doubt can improve, but I won’t blame him for what he’s done in the past.

“Florence would undoubtedly be a great opportunity for him to definitively put himself back on track.”[/article]

Gomez has only played 29 games for Fiorentina in 2 years and has only managed to bag 7 goals. A goal every 4 games. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!

Gomez would have been a very good signing two years ago. Pre injuries and dip in form.
Now I wouldnt sign him at all.

@Rosco

I presume he's speaking hypothetically. Injuries aside he would have been a good signing? It's like BTTF. If we went back in time and signed him perhaps Gomez would not have suffered his injuries with us??

Giving Hansern the benefit of the doubt here.

I don't think he deserves it.

It's a monumentally stupid comment. And it shows exactly the wrong way to consider signings

Gomez is not my first choice but if the choice is

1. gomez in...balo out and no need to sign benteskey (we keep 30mil)
2. benteskey in (-30mil) and we still have balo

ill go for option 1.

[article]Mario Gomez received “more than one offer and we’re evaluating them with the player,” said Fiorentina after Liverpool and Besiktas interest.

The German striker only turned 30 last week, but has a wealth of experience and injury problems behind him.

“He is a great champion and can continue to improve,” said Viola director general Andrea Rogg.

“We received more than one offer for Gomez and we’re evaluating them with the player. The Turkish option? Yes, that’s in there too.

“Mario has a certain price-tag that is tied to his career, so we must find the right balance. If not, it means we’ll have a champion in our squad who we will continue to work with.”

There were reports over the weekend that Gomez could move to Liverpool in an exchange of loans with Mario Balotelli.

However, Fiorentina seem more intent on cashing in for the centre-forward.

Besiktas have shown an interest in signing Gomez outright for around €8m, though Galatasaray are also alternatives.[/article]

According to James Horncastle,Sampdoria have sold okaka to Anderlecht, potentially paving the way open for Sampdoria to move for Balo??????

[article=http://www.football-italia.net/69812/samp-balotelli-costs-%E2%82%AC10m]“Mario Balotelli costs €10m, but with a discount we await him with open arms,” said Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero.

The Blucerchiati have repeatedly hinted at interest in Balotelli and Ferrero did so again at the presentation of the 2015-16 Serie A fixture list.

“Balotelli costs €10m, but with a discount we await him with open arms.”

This statement suggests Liverpool would be prepared to release SuperMario for just €10m (£7.1m).

That would be half of what the Reds paid Milan for him only a year ago.[/article]
