That's a positive result.

3 clean sheets. 7 points. New players making an immediate impact.

And Lucas is being sold

How could you not be happy?

Well that was the first game I've found interesting for quite awhile. Well done to Rodgers, he did plenty of good things tonight. Frustrating the way we slipped back in the second half and gave up the initiative for a while, but that was a promising performance.

As dull as it sounds I'm fucking made up that we look much more organized at the back.

3rd clean sheet is impressive. Joe Gomez though. Fucking hell that lad is good.

Good point on paper. In reality a bit disappointing we couldn't capitalise first half. Ran out of steam second half & Lucas was physically fucked which didn't help.

Very promising performance in so many areas though.

Milner needs a mention too, he was doing a lot of the donkey work for others. Without Lucas I'd say he's the best shout for being our defensive midfielder.

No negatives, only positives. Very encouraging performance. Our defence seems to be solid again.

But Cech was a major pain in the Arse. We should've won it. Frustrating.

I really thought that was a brilliant team performance.
They fought hard for each other.
I think the subs didnt help at all, but that small gripe aside it was terrific.
Skrtel and Lovren were fantastic, the full backs were brilliant (Gomez especially) and the three in the middle were stunning all night.
Firmino was poor but first game nerves and all that.

Great performance. Third clean sheet. Much better stuff

The lack of support Clyne was getting was a little worrying, Arsenal should have made us pay there, every time he went chasing the ball, no one dropped into his space, leaving massive spaces to be exploited. Still, what a great result, and a great testament to our defensive work, we looked very very tight, and it took some very quick one touch football from Arsenal to create chances, and obviously the play going so quick made it hard for Arsenal to apply the finish. Positive signs, and a great start to the season.

Gomez is the signing of the summer. Closely followed by Milner.

Can needs to realise that, if the ball's in the air and he can't see a teammate close by, he really needs to try to bring the ball down rather than just head it back up in the air. I know it's technically hard but he has to try.

Coutinho continues to do some wonderful things and then make wrong decisions once he gets in the area. Brilliant player but still room to improve.

Benteke has settled in so quickly I'm really very pleasantly surprised.

Stoke and Arsenal away, 2-9 last season and 0 points, this season 2 clean sheets and 4 points. Love it.

I guess we would have taken that at the start but not at halftime. Some really good performances but I'm going to pick out Mignolet, Skrtel, Milner and Coutinho...all of them superb. 7 points from three games that include two of the hardest away fixtures we'll play. Three clean sheets and the back four looking very settled. Not bad for a team that can't defend and a manager who doesn't know how to set up a defence...long may they continue making mugs out of their detractors.

Milner MOTM for me.

I think Ibe must have been puffing at Raheem's dodgy pipe. Very disappointing performance from a player we had so much hope for.

Firmino was decent enough. Lacks match fitness though. Should have had an assist for that quality cross to Benteke

Much better performance. It's almost as if last season didn't happen.

Yeah, he wasn't the only one, Skrtel looked heavy legged, as did Milner and Can. 3rd game and a first half of pressing the best passing side in the league. We got it right and that's pleasing that we can approach those games and take a different route. In the end we over relied a bit on the long ball which they got wise to by winning the second ball, but we fought well and it'll stand us in good stead.

Post game thoughts:

* Mign - solid game. A few bad reads at the end, but another clean sheet.
* Clyne - is this the best RB we've had since Rob Jones?
* Gomez - Who compared him to Rio? It's early but wow, what a talent we have here.
* Skittles & Lovren - another very good game for the two.
* Lucas - really good performance, MoTM for me.
* Milner - another good performance
* Firmino - he's class, but we won't see his best of him for another 1-2 months. Needs to get used to the league and team.
* Coutinho - Should have scored bar a wonder save from Cech ... good game from the wizard.
* Can - Very good 90 mins from him.
* Benteke - Should have scored bar a wonder save from Cech ... having him there really adds a dimension that makes it hard to play against us.
* Ibe - worst performance I've seen from him ...
* Rossiter - a bit of an odd game to throw him into but he did his best, and harassed their players well.
* Moreno - SHOOT! or PASS!

* Rodgers - Good start for the gaffa too ... A point at the Emirates is a far better showing than what we did last year ... and the first 45 minutes were dominating - just missing the goals.

Other thoughts:
* Cech - great saves. twat.
* Ramsey's goal - should have counted obviously
* Coq's tackles - did anyone else think both were fouls?
* I know we should be happy with a point, but I feel like this was a missed opportunity ... but the defense is set up really well ... and the team seems to have 'it' this year.
* Oh and Wenger? fuck him.

I don't think we looked that tight. We gave up some good chances around our six yard box in the second half.

Mignolet pulled off a few good saves too. It was still better than last season, but let's not go overboard.

We still need to find the balance between defence and attack but everything from the pre match comments from Rodgers to the gutsy performance shows we're moving in the right direction.

And describing Benteke as a target man is doing him a great disservice. He's a good all rounder

His confidence looks shot.
When he broke into the team first he was full of energy and endeavour.
He's looked clueless so far this season and offered nothing but I really hope it's a confidence thing and nothing more.

I think he just needs that goal that's eluding him, when he gets it he'll calm the fuck down. He was dire tonight though.

Shouldn't sell Lucas, great performance.
Gomez is going to be a star
Coutinho just his standard, probably his last season with us
Milner harassed all game
Clyne is best RB in the league
Mignolet is playing really well
Skrtel and Lovren looking a decent partnership
Ibe struggled today, couldn't get into the game

Promising start to the season, can't complain with 4 points away to Stoke and Arsenal

The goal will come if he becomes more positive.
He's in a shell at the moment.
I'd much rather see Markovic at the moment coming from the bench and let Ibe find his feet again in the cup games.
