I am satisfied because come Sunday evening if I'm reading we won and we are in the CL then I will be fucking delighted.

I've just written something similar in another thread but I actually do, biasedly or non-biasedly believe, that we were the best team in the league this season we just had fuck all but bad luck with constant injuries and not enough depth of squad. I doubt very much they will even bother to show up at the Emirates and play as it will undoubtedly piss their own fans off but I hope that Everton can negatively affect Arsenal as much as they did us by injuring Mane two months ago... God knows...

We truly deserve to finish top 4 so I really want us to do so, it would be a travesty of justice if we do not get in.

Is it enough? Blimey.... Maybe not I suppose but we can worry about that after we get in there again....if we do so!!! so, for now, I will certainly take it and be happy.
Fuck off mate, Chelsea are gonna finish with 93 Fucking points.

Best team in the league me hole.

They're big factors, but overall fitness is a bigger one imo.

Our players look way more fucked than opposition players who have played a similar number of games do, obviously this has a lot to do with our intensity of play.

Our fitness team has a big job to prevent that from being as much of an issue next season or we're gonna struggle in the final third of the campaign again, maybe earlier depending how many cup games we end up playing.

Hopefully the lack of an international tournament this summer will get them working with the players early to build up fitness/stamina levels.

Can is already set to miss the start of pre-season due to his call up to the national team for the Confederations Cup.

edit: Looks like he's the only one from our squad going for this tournament. The rest of the teams are Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Cameroon, Chile Portugal and Mexico.

I'm not gonna bust a nut, but I'm happy with arriving late to the buffet and discovering that there's food left.

I'll be satisfied with 4th as long as it's confirmed that if Utd win the Europa League they don't take our place in the Champions League.

Well that's already confirmed as I understand it? If United win the EL 5 teams from England are eligible for next seasons CL, with the 4th placed team in the league needing to play a qualifying stage.

Top 4 was always the target, however considering our position at xmas, we have slid down the league.

On top of that our rivals have been dropping points in recent weeks and haven’t taken advantage of this.

For this season? Yes.

It's progress. We need to be in the CL and this gets us to the qualifiers.

Is it an end game like it has been for the likes of Arsenal? Of course not. But let's face it, with the paper thin squad we've got at the moment, 4th place is good. Plus we won't have sneaked in because of Utd or Arsenal's poor form, we'd be there on merit. The points tally this year is higher than many previous years.

I think our position at Xmas, which was good of course, raised expectations, mine included.

Stepping back that first half of the season was the foundation for this campaign and hopefully will see us attain top 4.

I hate that so much is put on top 4, but given the strength of at least 5 other sides around us, not to mention others in Europe, means consistent top 4 finishes are a necessity to consistently attract the right players to get us competing main prize of the league and other trophies.

Spot on. 76 points would be really impressive.

Who's the 3rd? As to what you say, I have said the samein various other threads, but when you had your hopes on winning it, 4th might come as a big disappointment.
But if we are sensible about things, we had no expectations we could win it before the season, so the early form just gave us some realistic expectations.

We are heading in the right direction. Sometimes we have to take steps to get there rather than one giant leap.

Undoubtedly we have fucked up against smaller teams this year but when we had our full team we played the most exciting footy and, in my opinion, we were the best team in the league, or at least our first 11 was.

I think we are still top of that top 7 "mini table" they were throwing around.

YES we didn't always do so great against multiple parked buses but at the same time we managed to fuck up the big boys quite convincingly and quite often.

I agree that 93 points is a fine total and Chelsea are very good and it's nice to see they aren't managed by a cunt anymore but IMHO, not a "fact" just my opinion, we played better than they did this season but whereas we had numerous key injuries throughout the last 6 months they haven't had any at all.

Ermm... I could have sworn we beat them this season on their own patch and very much deserved a point with a weakened team at Anfield... maybe I was watching something else... fuck it DB you can always change your allegiance if you wish... and it is true I am biased as fuck.

EVERYONE would have taken 4th at the start of the season.
I don't think it's unreasonable to revise your expectations as you go though, there's plenty of things we could have done better this season. We might have had some injuries but I'll think we'll look back on this season as an 'easy' one in the scheme of things, some of our rivals haven't cut it and we've played hardly any games over the League ones.
Next season's expectations should be top 4, a decent run in the CL and better performances in both domestic cups. That will be a real test and what happens this summer needs to recognise that.

Hopefully the lack of an international tournament this summer will get them working with the players early to build up fitness/stamina levels.
Finish 4th and we'll have to come back a month early for the CL qualifiers. That fitness boost should translate to good early season form but with a very long season it could see us tail off come April/May. Could make the CL final very tricky.

Fucking hell. Fucking hell

It's the points total that I'm happy with. 76 points. Anything above 80 generally means title contention.

So if we can remain in this territory, that'll be great.

8th to 4th, with a 16 point improvement to boot... Very nice season.

Hand on heart, I don't thing that anybody on our squad would get a sniff of a league-wide 'squad of the season' selection - We're quite a bit off the quality of all three ahead of us and maybe even one or two behind us... For that reason alone, 4th spot this season, especially showing the bottle that we needed to in all those tough away games at the end, is very acceptable. And though I'm glad we didn't see arsenal-esque celebrations at wrapping up 4th, a reasonable sense of satisfaction is absolutely warrented.

And now, we have a great starting point from which to build for bigger challenges ahead. We need to replace several players if we realistically expect to compete on two fronts next year, but CL qualification will be a huge boost in attracting the players that we need.

I Would have taken it at the start of the season, mission accomplished in one sense. Disappointing we fell away in the second half of the season, mane / courtinho/ lallana all out for periods was a key factor but hopefully that can be addressed in the summer.

yes, a good first full season for Klopp, after he engineered a cup final or 2 last year.

It's a major milestone on the way to greater things.

Having seen LCFC and Chelsea win the past two years with CL footy it makes you realize, how big a drain the CL is if you don't have almost teams in your esquad. It can be a curse too.
