Are we on the brink ?

The darkest hour is right before the dawn.

I reckon we're gonna win the league next year.

I also reckon Rooney's gonna be injured for the World Cup.

Well that's cheered me up no end

Thanks Guys?

*slits wrists*

You could always go get a haircut. That usually cheers me up.

I generally speaking only watch Liverpool, too.

Unless it's a game of big interest for whatver reason

I watch hardly any football for 'pleasure'

Which is fortunate

What he said, and fuck the football that's nice to watch

I'd like to think so Ross.

The question then would be whether the owners could actually bring in someone competent enough for the job.

I'd imagine it would be Purslow, assisted by Dalglish that would be tasked with finding a replacement. So I don't worry too much in that regard - Oncy's summation getting a good enough manager in another thread in the past couple of days puts it in perspective too.

I know people will bang on about Klinsmann being talked to last time, but you have to look at the circumstances of it. Rafa was threatening to quit repeatedly, Gillett already knew Klinsmann so it was convenient to talk to him about it to have a back up option in case Rafa's bluff needed to be called. It would be different this time.
Exactly so, that's how I read it.

As regards Sunny's original post, well we could be.
I really don't understand the owners though.
They are not soft, they are billionaires in their own right and you don't do that off your own bat by being a complete dope, but..............surely they can see the value of their investment plummeting and seem reluctant to do anything about it.
I was convinced absolutely convinced they would bring a striker in in the summer to avoid this very situation, they didn't and they don't seem worried now, it's probably too late now anyway.

With reference to watching football. I used to watch every game I could in my teens/twenties. Then I kind of fell into just watching Liverpool. At the moment, Ill watch whatever I can without having a real interest in it. Just to prove to myself that decent exciting games of footy still exist.

I remember posting early in Rafa's days, when expectations vastly exceeded what he had at his disposal, saying that it was just as likely as far as I was concerned that liverpool would never win the title again, as it was that we would win the title in the near future.

I'm starting to get back to those real feelings of doom.

This isn't a fair system, there are tiers, and you can buy your way up. We should be in a position like Arsenal is, as a well run club that capitalized on their success and reinvested in assets which bring increased revenue. That isn't G&H's fault, but their timing and risk has continued our total failure to address the most pressing club issue for well over a decade now - the stadium.

A lot can change, but there seems to be a total lack of urgency, and if the owners haven't found an attractive investor now, I struggle to see how the valuations will go up once we finish out of the top 4 and Man City invests huge sums of money with the lure of CL football.

This is a frightening, pertinent, and heretofore unmentioned point. I'm scared lads.

What can be done to put it right ?
Put Gerrard back in CM.

Play Aquilani between the lines.

Practice pass and move football.

So you think we should sack Rafa then?

What does 'between the lines' mean?

Fucking hell
In this context, I'm taking it to mean between the sidelines, ie. on the pitch and not on the bench. Don't care if that's not what Robin meant.
I think he means between midfield and attack. I think.
That's going to be tough to arrange. We don't have an attack.

Hahaha. Don't be silly. We have Kuyt. Fuck, I mean Ngog. Shit I mean.....erm......oh. Bugger.

The lines are the opposition's line of defenders and line of midfielders.

When did we sign Bugger? Does he look promising? Can't be any worse than what we've got.

I didn't have a sarcastic comment ready for that explanation so I discarded it.

A second striker who can't score goals, isn't quick, and can't beat players with skill

Sounds like a great idea

Are you all taking the piss or have you never heard the phrase "between the lines" in this context before?
I've quite missed robin's 'between the lines' and formation bollocks
I got a bit bored of the fact that nobody hears what seems to me to be patently obvious. Scientific even.

But never mind

I accept that would be a limitation, but I'm only really concerned with our complete inability to carve out normal, regular, back garden with yer mates chances.

My theory rests on the assumption that Aquilani would get plenty of assists; goals would be scored. I don't really care who is scoring them as long as someone creates proper chances and someone else scores them.
I think Aquilani could do a decent job in the hole.
I've said as much in a couple other threads. Agree that he isn't likely to be as good as Gerrard (who is?) but Gerrard isn't excelling there right now anyways (injury, morale) and our midfield is utter utter shit.
