We all used to think Momo Sissoko was the dog's bollocks, until he was replaced with Mascherano. Then we realised that we now had someone who could do everything Momo could do, plus (contrary to what some people on here claim) he can pass the ball too! 🙂

Heaven knows Masher's not shy of being nasty, but the big difference between him and Momo is that Masher can win the ball cleanly when he chooses (in fact I've seen few, if any, better at doing so) whereas Momo seemed to regard the ball as an appendage of his opponent and never to be satisfied without leaving his stud marks all down both.

I was impressed by Sissoko in his first year, he really was very good at his specialist job - but his form declined and that eye injury seemed to be the end for his career at Liverpool.

We lack someone of his height in the middle of the park at times. Lucas and Javier are midgets.

That would work if most opposing teams didn't have their midfield 'line' standing about 1 metre in front of their defensive 'line' when we're in possession of the ball. Have a look at the Wolves game last night, or the recent Stoke game.

'Play between the lines' - Yet more ethereal bullshit.

You've actually never struck me as being that macho yourself, but perhaps you've got a point.

I've always peferred to watch the average Serie A match than the average Premiership one, and perhaps a lot of what I think would improve our side wouldn't have enough of an effect on the real tangible, masculine, athletic, lack of heart, fight and balls deficit in our side.

Either that or Australia has made you worse...

No, you were right at the beginning - I do have a point.

Cheers.

How's life with you anyway Robin?
Still on the Isle of Man? Berlin?

Tell us some stuff.

It is a bit of a nonsense for you to dismiss 'playing between the lines' as 'ethereal bullshit', Ryan, when your hero, Rafa Benitez, uses the phrase practically every fucking day.

And it's easy enough to see what it means: watch some of Yossi's runs, drifting in from the right - the way he finds space behind the opposition midfield and discomforts their defenders who are busy marking Torres: that's 'playing between the lines'.
