Things are never as good as we, the ignorant masses, think they are and they're never as bad as we, the ignorant masses, think they are.
Aren't things worse this season than anyone thought they would be? I had 0 expectations for this season, and I've still been surprised by how comprehensively we've fallen apart.

As to if Gene is taking the piss or not, I think there is sense in it.
Write the season off, don't let Rafa get his hands on any money, and be prepared to dangle a big pot of money wrapped up in a red and white polka dot cloth in front of Jose

I'm glad I didn't start this thread.

Yes we are most definately on the brink and in desperate need of fourth spot.

Without I think we will lose Masher and Torres in the summer which will leave us up shit creek.

Regardless of what happens Rafa has to go. He does not have what it takes to win the league for numerous reasons which have been done to death.

Bottom line is he has to walk.

We have nothing going for us at the moment, shit football, shit results, no fight, no trophies very little prospects for the future.

After 6 years the blame has to fall with the manager for that.

I really really hope so but if Man City bid 100M how can we turn it down without CL money.

And if Barca offer the 30m they have hinted at then that too would be hard to say no to.

I think we have little or no chance of 4th if Rafa stays and some chance if he goes.

It's almost impossible, really

Apart from when Arsenal, Barcelona and Spain have done it recently of course.

I think he means between midfield and attack. I think.
That's going to be tough to arrange. We don't have an attack.
The lines are the opposition's line of defenders and line of midfielders.
That would work if most opposing teams didn't have their midfield 'line' standing about 1 metre in front of their defensive 'line' when we're in possession of the ball. Have a look at the Wolves game last night, or the recent Stoke game.

'Play between the lines' - Yet more ethereal bullshit.

If we were the richest club on Earth, sitting atop of the league, and had a Stadium the length of the Arc de fucking Triomphe, I'd still sell Mascherano for 30M.

Accepting that purported offer has got zero to do with our current plight. It's just good business sense.

30M for a midfielder than can't pass the fucking salt.

Yes please.

Or to look at differently,

Sell one of our few top top players.

Lose him and Torres and we are down to hmmmm, Reina and Gerrard.

Great. 7 place it is next year if Gerrard doesn't get injured.

Doomsday would be losing Gerrard Torres and Reina and not investing the money in new players, keeping Rafa and not starting the stadium.

Our shirt sponsors pulling their deal and LFC slipping down the table faster than Pete on a pole in popworld.

Avmenon: That's Balague's book which I just recently read. Reading that book and its slant and comparing it to what has transpired this season is an exercise in contrasts. Despite the similar league positions.

Sadly he is joking but I am not.

I said as early as September that we would be battling for fourth at best and was told I was overracting and to negative.

Reality is I was being realistic while other's were forming groups of we can win the league.

I'm not negative or pessimistic just realistic.

I'm not rubbishing him, mate. I do like Javier, a lot, but I don't think he screams out captain material, and in the long-term, I'm not sure he's right for us as a player.

I think every player in the current squad are rubbished by one forumer at one time or another. Well almost except perhaps Reina.

We all used to think Momo Sissoko was the dog's bollocks, until he was replaced with Mascherano. Then we realised that we now had someone who could do everything Momo could do, plus (contrary to what some people on here claim) he can pass the ball too! 🙂
