Yeah, why wouldn't I want a player who had 9 assists in a quarter of a season for us back.
Because we are in much more need to strengthen elsewhere?
Oh for fuck sake. He's our player! Its not like we have to go and sign him. The current owners didnt even buy him, the last ones did.
This is all irrelevant. A deal has been agreed with Juventus so he wont be back. Me, Dr Mac, Shelvey, Del and a few others will never be able to proove we are right, and the rest of you will continue to be wrong.
So let this be the end of it.

From the mirror:

Liverpool have warned Juventus they will not allow Alberto Aquilani to leave on the cheap.

The Italian midfielder returned to Serie A last August after a disappointing first season at Anfield and has subsequently impressed.

Juventus want to turn the deal into a permanent arrangement but Liverpool will not entertain the idea of selling Aquilani for £5million, as has been mooted.

When Aquilani’s loan was negotiated, a clause was inserted stipulating Liverpool would only consider doing business if Juventus matched their £11m valuation.

Aquilani does not want to return to the Barclays Premier League and Liverpool would be happy to offload his £85,000 per week salary.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marrota said: 'Aquilani must remain calm. We believe in him and he has shown he deserves to be at Juve.'

Aqua is a good asset to have. I'd rather keep him than let him gor for a penny less than what we agreed. Even then i'd begrudge him going

He's going to be like a new signing for us. I don't even want to sell him for the agreed 11m let alone anything less. Hopefully Kenny will be saying 'Welcome back Alberto'. We need a better squad.

CHILLAX ol' bugger!

He's our player alright but as it's been some time since we've seen him in our famous red it's not like he'd be dearly missed. And as been said if the money is right - in excess of £10M - we'd be taking a big gamble on a player yet to prove his worth in The Premiership if we said 'no thanks' - especially baring in mind we're severely lacking strength in depth in key-areas.

Unless our new owners got Mariana Trench deep pockets I'm sure that kind of money would be of effective use elsewhere. On at least two top-drawer wide-players for instance.

NB Having watched a fair bit of Juve of late it's clear to see Aquilani has improved moving back home but it's not like he's setting the world alight either. At least not in his past few games I've watched him play.

I think we are in a stronger position than we were as regards getting shafted by these European clubs. I am not saying the money does not matter, but had FSG been in place when Mascher was going, I don't think we would have had our kecks pulled down quite so easily.
Similarly with Aquilani , I don't think the absence of the agreed figure, some reports say £11m and some say £13m, will stop us doing anything that we planned in the summer and I don't think the JH is one for people taking advantage, it's a question of sending out the right message to these cunts.
In short we can call Juve's bluff on this one. They want him badly and they must know even at £13m they are getting a fucking bargain, insofar as he has been a top player for them this year, but that won't stop them trying to take this piss.
I'd have him back anyway. The question might be how motivated would he be.

regards

Who knows, maybe kenny might take him to see A1 if they reunite

Juventus might not take up the option to make Alberto Aquilani's loan from Liverpool permanent, according to the club's former director of sport.

Alessio Secco feels the Italy international midfielder hasn't done enough to justify the €16m that Juventus would need to pay to seal the deal.

Interviewed on Radio Mercato, he said: “In my opinion, aside from the injury he suffered, Juventus will opt to sign Fabio Quagliarella from Napoli.

“It's true that he's coming off a rather serious injury, but in the end I think that his abilities as a player are not up for discussion and that Juventus will do everything to sign him.

“Instead, I think it'll be hard to see Juventus sign Aquilani. The player hasn't given the quality necessary to help the Bianconeri make that jump in class.

“Aside from the game against Lecce on Sunday, in which the entire team played in a mediocre fashion, I think that Aquilani hasn't had a great season and that signing him for €16m seems a very exaggerated figure.â€

Asked if he would have appointed Gigi Del Neri, who is currently under pressure, Secco replied: “Honestly, no.

“I would have looked for someone else even if I must say that I have a lot of respect for Del Neri and I consider him to be really professional and prepared in the job that he does.

“But I would not have chosen him as a Coach.â€
He'd be playing for a plane ticket to Euro2012 if nothing else. He missed the World Cup, so I can't imagine he'll want to miss another major tournament.

Which is a good point.
He does need to keep up his profile in anything he does if he wants someone to come in for him anyway.

I was under the impression he had a great season. 12M is already a knock-down price. Screw them, call their bluff. If we bend over again for another club, I'll scream!!

I think chances of them meeting our asking price will be even slimmer should they miss out on CL qualification too.

I think that's a bit of a myth on here, probably because he only gets mentioned when he plays well. It's true he had some very good games but also a fair share of awful ones, all in all he's been terribly inconsistent to say the least

The most relevant part of the original article isn't bolded though. Here it is again:

Juventus might not take up the option to make Alberto Aquilani's loan from Liverpool permanent, according to the club's former director of sport.

He was sacked at the end of the 2009-2010 season. So his words mean f**k all.

Exactly. He even has a dig at the current manager. They might decide to sign Aquilani just to spite him. 😉

I asked my Juve-supporting relatives about Aquilani's season so far. Their summary was that in the earlier part of the season he was excellent, probably Juve's best player. His more recent form has been up-and-down, but no more so than the rest of the team.

Alberto Aquilani’s agent insists Juventus “absolutely intend to buy him permanently†from Liverpool.

There have been reports the Bianconeri are looking for a discount in order to make the loan move something more stable.

“Juventus and Liverpool have already reached an agreement for the player some time ago,†agent Franco Zavaglia told Radiomercato.com.

“The Bianconeri directors absolutely intend to buy him permanently at the end of the season and have repeated it many times.

“Everything that has been said in the last few days is just hilarious. Liverpool certainly will not give a discount and the player will leave only with the agreed-upon figures.

“If Juventus do not buy Aquilani outright, then he will return to Liverpool, even if he wants to play in Italy…

“I don’t think there are any Italian clubs that can have him other than Juvntus.â€

agent in talking sense SHOCKA!

Inter are the only team with money it seems but let's see what happens.

I'm not too concerned. If Aquilani returns and we get in a few quality attacking players, we'll have a pretty decent squad!

So, Juve are absolutely going to buy him for keeps.

Unless they don't.

And if they don't, he's coming back to Liverpool.

Well, thanks for that, Mr. Agent.

Juventus have suffered a blow ahead of this weekend's match against Bologna after Alberto Aquilani picked up an injury in training.

The Italy international midfielder developed a muscle problem, which the Juventus medical staff fear could be a strain of the adductor in his right thigh.

Aquilani will undergo a scan tomorrow morning to determine the severity of the injury.

Just got reminded that in 2009/10 season, he started 9 (in 18) Premier League games & in those 9 he got 6 assists & scored 1 goal.

Assists against: Burnley, Portsmouth, Tottenham, Bolton
Goal against: Portsmouth
