Aquilani To Leave On Loan

"Juve was a huge opportunity for me, I could not lose it. Leaving Italy was not easy, I faced many life changes."

Difficult to settle in somewhere when you live your spine at home.

First the sporting director, then Aquilani, now the chairman. Hope we make the most out of their interest and now give in to lower fee.

Meanwhile, Juve have distanced themselves from rumours suggesting they are keen to land Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano.

Club president Andrea Agnelli is against the idea of Cassano moving to Turin even though Samp have applied to the Lega to have the player's contract rescinded.

When asked about the reports, Agnelli would only say: "Juve have other plans. There is no space for him here.

"I hope he finds his fortune elsewhere but I will be suggesting that we sign Alberto Aquilani."

Aquilani is currently on a season-long loan switch at Juve from Liverpool.

Alberto Aquilani has revealed how he wanted to join Juventus at all costs rather than starting again at a smaller club.

The 26-year-old midfielder moved to Turin on loan from Liverpool in the summer and has rebuilt his career after an injury-plagued season on Merseyside.

Speaking to the club's official TV channel, Aquilani said: “I only wanted Juventus. The Bianconeri quickly presented themselves once I made my desire to return to Italy known, getting in touch with Liverpool and Roy Hodgson with the idea of a loan.

“I wanted to play. I needed to do it. Some people advised me to go to a smaller club, but I didn't want to go down a level. I wanted to take my chances with a big club.

“I wanted to get myself back in the game after a difficult year and a bad injury. Anyway up until the day before I arrived [in Turin] I was convinced about staying at Liverpool.â€

Aye, but you did say Klaas Jan Huntelaar is a better finisher than Robbie Fowler.
Did I say *better*?

He's exceptional, as was Fowler.

One goal in every home game, and the fastest ever in English football to reach 50 goals.....i'm finding the logic behind that a bit too difficult.
He's almost always injured.

Obviously his goal return is amazing

Liverpool are considering recalling Alberto Aquilani from his season-long loan to Juventus.

The Italian international has improved his form significantly since gaining regular first team football with the Turin giants, and has even returned to the national team fold.

He has developed a fine partnership with defensive midfielder Felipe Melo at Juve, and practically ran Juventus’ game against Genoa on Sunday with a constant delivery of excellent diagonal passes to the flanks from deep.
When Roy Hodgson let him go to Juventus, he stated that he wanted Aquilani to reach his potential, so he could be the player Liverpool watched before his injury trouble wrecked the beginning of his Anfield career.

“It would certainly be what he needs, it would certainly protect the value of the player and when he does return to Liverpool no doubt we will see the Aquilani that we signed before he came here injured last year,†said the Reds boss at the time.

Although the loan was set for the entire season, with the option for Juventus to buy for around £13m, Liverpool of course retain the option to keep the player – and it looks like they have elected to do so.

Many have felt that Aquilani has been unable to show his potential at Anfield just because he has never been given a proper chance by either Rafa Benitez or Roy Hodgson.

Finally he could be about to do so.

i really doubt that will happen
Me too.

Wouldn't that be a bit cuntish on our part too? If the tables were turned I'd be livid if the loaning club did that to us.

I hope it does happen.. As a central trio this lot will pass the other team off the park and be threading in through balls all over the place..!

Gerrard Raul

Aquilani

Strongly disagree. It's true that we'd be annoyed if the boot were on the other foot, but even more importantly I'd be spitting tacks about it if I were the player. Aquilani BADLY wants to stay there and has made that very clear in his public statements - encouraged no doubt by Juventus hoping to get us to lower the agreed price, but he still wouldn't have done it unless that was what he wanted as well. My hope is that this is a similar bargaining ploy on our part to make sure the price doesn't come down. Otherwise I think it's a very bad idea indeed.

If he was happy to come back and play like he wants to be here then we should be all over it.

Unfortunately I don't think he will be.

The ability in that midfield/attack is phenomenal.. It's filled with defense unlockability (nice word) to break down any team..

Wow! So not only is he coming back. Hes calling round by birmingham and bringing Young with him. Great
Would this be the Young that a certain delusional Frenchman has just priced @ £80m?

Haha. I was wondering where they got that £80million figure from without any quotes. Another sign that a transfer window is arriving. 😛

Aquilani won't be coming back to England for 2 reasons;

1. He knows he's shit in England

2. We know he's shit in England

Alberto Aquilani will stay at Juventus and not return to Liverpool next summer, according to his agent Franco Zavaglia.

The 26-year-old midfielder is currently on loan in Turin, although Juventus have agreed a fee to sign him once the deal expires in June.

Aquilani has rebuilt his career in a short time, earning a re-call to the Italy squad on the back of some formidable performances in black and white.

Quoted in Tuttosport, Zavaglia said: “Aquilani is staying at Juventus.

“The Bianconeri have until June to sign the player.

“The figures have already been fixed.
â€

Roy Hodgson has dismissed reports that Alberto Aquilani could make a premature return to Liverpool.

The Italian playmaker has flourished since his temporary return to Serie A and it had been suggested he would receive a shock recall to Merseyside to provide cover following Steven Gerrard's recent injury.

But Hodgson insists that the midfielder, who failed to justify his £17.1million price tag during his one and only season at Anfield, will remain at Juventus until the end of the season.

He said: "I don't think there's any chance of that. The loan spell is quite clear.

"I think he's loaned out until the end of the season so we won't be able to bring him back until then.
"

He doesn't fucking know anything. He just 'thinks' this and estimates that.

Unambitious, bus pass needing bastard.

Suffering a slight dip in form. Substituted near the hour mark yesterday.

“We are still missing so many players and this is why we need to complete the squad in January, so that we won’t be left without options if there are injuries.

“Alberto Aquilani is going through a tough time, but we knew that would happen, as up until now he has given a lot to the side. Clearly a player cannot be 100 per cent all the time.â€"

Yeah he did have a poor match against Catania... and to be honest other than Quagliarella, most of the Juve side was quite average.

Aqua is like me xbox, if he plays for more than 60 minutes a week he just fucking kaputs and breaks.

Shame as he's ace when fit.

Clearly he is a player who will have to be "managed" through his career like King or McGrath, its not something he will ever put right, I think Agger is in the same boat. The question with players like that is whether they offer enough on the pitch to make it work waiting for them in the inenvitible periods of convalesence

By all accounts Aqualani has been Juves player of the year so far and one of the standout performers in the Seire A so maybe he is worth it

Unfortunately that doesn't follow. Serie A is still "tippy-tappy" stuff by comparison with the Prem and there's no guarantee that a player who's mustard in one league will be likewise in the other as well. Besides, it's as plain as the nose on Thommo's face that Aquilani doesn't want to leave Italy again, so I would not be optimistic - to say the least - that he'd be a success if we forced him to come back.

Alberto Aquilani has nothing but good things to say about Juventus Coach Gigi Del Neri after a positive start to both their careers in Turin.

The Italy international midfielder has rediscovered his best form after an injury-plagued couple of years in Rome and Liverpool.

Interviewed in Il Corriere dello Sport, Aquilani said his first impressions of Juventus have been “extremely positive.

“I wished to return to Italy and find Serie A again. Juventus have given me that chance. I would like to repay their faith.

“I feel fine. The injuries are behind me. I went through difficult times, but with work and the help of those who love me, I have overcome them.

“I have found a system of play again that foresees two central midfielders: if one of us participates in attack, the other must stay back so as not to unbalance the team.

“At Liverpool I often came to be used at the tip of a midfield diamond behind the strikers.

“Del Neri insists a lot on the concept of the group. We all work together to get the maximum while looking to put our individuality to one side.â€

Asked if he agrees with Del Neri's assessment that Juventus are capable of winning the title, Aquilani said: “The mister is certainly more experienced than me and if he talks about the Scudetto there will be a reason for it.

“I believe that we should look at it on a game-by-game basis. We are going through a good spell, which we have to consolidate through our work during the week. We'll see what will happen in a month or so.â€

He's right to praise Del Neri - the man knows how to get the best out of midfielders like Aquilani.

He was the man to take what many considered average midfielders - the likes of Eugenio Corini, Simone Perrotta, Franceschini & Simone Barone - and made them hot property during his tenure at Chievo Verona.

Roopy slightly off topic and not one for Liverpool but what is your first impressions on 18-year-old defender Frederik Sørensen who's quite amazingly played a lot for Juve of late as RB? (Loaned him in Summer before he'd even had a look in for minnows Lyngby in the Danish SuperLeague).

I've only seen him play a couple of times but he's looked surprisingly up for the task whenever I've seen him. Big and fast and quite strong on the ball. Have you seen enough of him to make an early judgement on the lad?

Still too early to judge him, although he is promising player going by the handful of games I've seen him play.

What I have noticed is that he seems to be capable of playing anywhere across the defence ... Chielini & Bonucci are quality and definite starters, but the other 2 spots, for me, are up for grabs.

His rivals for these 2 spots are - Legrottaglie, Motta, Grygera & Rinuado - I rate none of these defenders, but they do have valuable experience at the top level - and given that Champions League football is a top priority for Juventus, it's quite risky to have Sorensen playing. The key to becoming a better player is of course getting game time, my only concern for this lad that he won't get the chance once Motta, Grygera have sorted out their injury problems. Perhaps going out on loan would be of greater benefit.

With Juve you have to be careful about getting excited about young players.

They've not had a very good success rate with converting talent into the real deal. A lot of people were saying the following Juve players were the next big thing:

Manuel Blasi - defensive mid now at Napoli ... was supposed to be their version of Pirlo
Nicola Legrottaglie - defensive mid/defender ... everyone said he was the direct replacement for Pessotto
Seb. Giovinco - attacking midfielder ... the next Nedved/Del Piero
Raffaele Palladino - striker ... Trezeguet's replacement.

The only youngster who has fulfilled his promise is Georgio Chiellini - who I might add was offered to Liverpool on numerous ocassions during his earlier years as a left back.

Thanks for that last soul crushing piece of information.

I know.

Even at that time I couldnt believe we turned it down.... he was rated sooo highly by everyone, including Juve, I have no idea why we rejected the offer... easily the best defender in Serie A alongside Thiago Silva of Milan.
