Depends on how the option is worded.

An option usually sets the price, it doesnt determine the right of the selling party to refuse the sale.

We can't sell to anyone else for a figure over the price agreed anyway.
Are you sure about it? I've always thought it works a bit like a realese clause only in this case a team spesific release clause.
No, I'm not sure unfortunately.

The wording might reflect your view, its hardto say unless we saw the terms.

Oh great, the weekly 'The lad who wasn't good enough for us is pulling up trees in a shitter, slower league - Maybe we made a mistake? Can we get him back' thread.

Like when Djibril was fucked off years ago, and spent the next 6 months scoring the odd goal against some backpackers - We got a thread about it every fucking day. And I was a Cisse fan for fucks sake.

cisse wasn't that good when he left. Aqua seems to be getting rave reviews and man of the match awards. Add that to the fact that he wasn't shit for us adds up to a wasted opportunity

Cisse banged in the goals for a 6 month period after he left us. I know this because SCM told me about it every week.

Me too, although I accept that the Premiership isn't really the ideal place for him.

It isn't really the ideal place for Torres either.

Ha! Fair enough

No offence Robin - but it comes as no suprise that you like(d) Aquilani.

I get the impression your teamsheet would consist of 11 absolute vaginas, all playing pretty triangles in the middle of the park, in between flicking their hair out of their eyes, before retreating back to the dressing room for some dill, artichoke, and and crushed pinenut sandwiches. On rye of course.

We'd draw 0-0 every week, but by Christ we'd look great.

🙂

Theres a lot of vaginas in the league though ryan and given time they settled. I reckon Aquilani is a bit too injury prone to make a lasting impression though...unlike say someone like modric or david silva!

While its clear he wasnt exactly Souness I think the days when every player in the premiership needs to be a physical beast to survive are long gone. When he played he looked a decent creative midfield player with an eye for a pass or a goal. Look at Pires during his time at arsenal, probably the biggest pussy in the league but the best left sided player around for about 4/5 years

To be honest just a few "vaginas" in midfield would do it (supported by a defensive midfielder), if by vaginas we mean technically strong, creative players.

I don't want vaginas in defence or nets. And whilst I said that the Premiership isn't maybe the ideal place for Fernando, I think he's strong enough to play up top.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about his ability to cut it in this league, he was still largely untested here and, given how thin our squad is (as Roy has alluded to on more than one occasion), it was fucking daft to loan him out before a ball was kicked.

Who would you rather come off the bench when we need a goal? Christian Poulsen or Aquilani?

Torres is good enough to play anywhere.

Aquilani might have made it here, but we'd have had to have built the side around him and neither Rafa nor Hodgson seemed to want to do that. Perhaps he next manager will take a different view if he is still available to us.

He wouldn't have been any use to us this season anyway. How much damage would he have been able to do stuck 20 yards in front of the back four? None. And we'd just have repeated arguments about how he's either unsuited to the league, needs to play in an attacking team or needs more team-mates on his "wave-length". So yeah, it doesn't grate me in the slightest that he's doing well for Juve.

Just for the record - I didn't deny that.

Aye, but you did say Klaas Jan Huntelaar is a better finisher than Robbie Fowler.

Ryan with a smiley face? 😱

I didn't mean it. I was going for some sort of smirk with a semi colon and a bracket, and it came out looking like that.

I couldn't be arsed going back to edit it.

Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has hinted that the club could sign both Alberto Aquilani and Fabio Quagliarella.

Aquilani is currently on loan from English club Liverpool while Quagliarella is on loan from Napoli.

The Turin club have the option of signing both players permanently at the end of the season when their respective loan deals expire.

Both players have shown good form this season and Marotta believed their performances have convinced the club into making their stay permanent.

"Aquilani and Quagliarella are on loan, and are doing very well," Marotta told Corriere Dello Sport.

"They are showing all the right things for us to buy their playing contracts."

One goal in every home game, and the fastest ever in English football to reach 50 goals.....i'm finding the logic behind that a bit too difficult.
Its the league of the European Champions mate. Inter, Ac, Lazio, Roma, Fiorentina Juventus are all good sides. Its nothing like cisse scoring against whothefuckasbor.

"What former Liverpool team-mate would I bring to Juventus? I wouldn't want to offend some of my friends, but from Liverpool I would take Glen Johnson," Aquilani told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Aquilani also reiterated his desire to make his loan move into a permanent deal.

The former Roma midfielder struggled to establish himself on Merseyside last season and was allowed to go out on loan during the summer.

Aquilani has recaptured his best form at Juve and he hopes to earn a permanent move to Turin.

"I hope to convince the directors of Juventus to buy me from Liverpool," added Aquilani. At Juve I would like to open a new era with the team.

"Sixteen million euros is a lot, but they can negotiate.

"Juve was a huge opportunity for me, I could not lose it. Leaving Italy was not easy, I faced many life changes."

16 million euros isnt a lot.

A lot is 20 million euros with further add-ons.

The crock should just shut the fuck up.

The very last two sentences quoted from him there are significant IMO. He plainly had a job settling here. IMO his form prior to leaving is overpraised by some posters but, even if it hadn't been, it's got to be doubtful that he'd have been able to maintain it if this is how he was feeling all along.

Aquilani looked class towards the end of last season.

He should definitely be in ahead of players like Lucas and Poulsen so there is no point having him away on loan and keeping those 2.

I'd quite like to see a midfield of Aquilani, Gerrard and Meireles.
