Aquilani, and Maxi..

Status
Not open for further replies.
He's not going to make the impact Garcia did mate.

Still, he could be a more-than-useful squad member. He's good on the ball, works hard, and can play a variety of roles. He might chip in with the odd goal too. Not bad for a free transfer really.

Cheers Ryan...

That's a pity...I thought he might be a step up from LG...

Nice to have some more "tricky" options though...

Aquilani should start more games ahead of Lucas. Fact.

Aquilani is a better player than Lucas. Fact.

Rafa prefer Lucas ahead of Aquilani. Fact.

Rafa will drop Aquilani after he had a good game for the next match. Fact.

Aquilani's confidence level drop after being sideline for the next match again. Fact.

Rafa's tinkering are the reason why we are so shit this season. Fact.

All the above has been scientifically proven by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) as being absolute fact. ©

You show quite a few signs of being unstable.

As to Aquilani and Maxi, neither have been here long enough to tell.

Both need to start twenty games at least before a reasoned judgment can be made.

If we were to wait for Aquilani to start 20 games that would be until next season boy. Rafa is saving him for soft games only.

all of the above are your opinion and not 'fact' at all.

aqua...

well, it seems rafa has spent 20 million on a player we will only see the best of next season because it seems rafa will only play him regularly when he has fully accliamatised to the league. marvelous...

You can always rely on Grock Rule to end a thread in madness.

As for the moaning gaylords quacking on about me accusing Purple Aqui of being 'shit', I must protest.

All I've said is that so far he's been a fucking disaster, and we've seen about 45 minutes of decent football out of him so far this season. This is fact.

I certainly hope he won't be shit, but there are a few worrying signs that he may not have the attributes required to be a big success at Liverpool

what are the worrying signs with aqua, apart from the obvious one of rafa not playing the hugely expensive midfielder despite being fit for months? okay, what OTHER worrying signs?

20 millions pounds worth of midfielder on the bench each week...who says we don't have strength in depth?

Aquilani 4 starts 4 wins 2 assists.
Maxi 2 starts 2 wins 1 (kinda) assist.

They're doing okay.

One worrying sign is the interview that was shown early morning on Saturday on BBC1 in which Aquilani said that he plays in constant pain and he HOPES that one one day he will be able to play without the pain - That's not good!

20 millions pounds worth of midfielder on the bench each week...who says we don't have strength in depth?

Other worrying signs (apart from his injury record):

An attacking midfielder who won't score many goals
A worrying lack of interest in tackling, tracking back and getting stuck in
A passing range that ranges from "good" to "like a mad woman's piss"
A tendency to drift out of games for long periods
A general feeling that he is a bit of a luxury player who requires the whole team to be set up around him, and isn't really good enough to be afforded that (in the unlikely event he ever would be).

I can guarantee that he certainly won't ever be quite the world-beating player many seem to think he will be, but I really do hope he isn't the distaster I fear he *might* be.

Either way, it's difficult to see which way he will go when he plays so few games.

Another transfer master-stroke from Benitez, then.

I kind of get the same impression but because rafa wont play him it's difficult to make a definitive judgement either way. you even have to worry if the situation will change next season as we may get a difficult run of fixtures from the start and will rafa trust aqua even then.

I think its clear at this point that Rafa either lacks the confidence or the inclination to play Aqualani regularly, he will go the way of Keane and Babel, half a game every couple of weeks until his confidence and enthusiasm are non esixtant. Then the inevitable "hes a shit/useless cunt" stuff will start and he will be moved on for less than we paid for him and the truth of it is we will never really know how good he was because he will never be given the chance.

Maxi appears to be in favour with Rafa so he will play tons of games even if hes terrible, right now he looks a yard short of pace but hollds the ball well and can link up with others. whether his lack of pace is just because hes adapting or he really is that slow remains to be seen. Right now he doesnt add any new dimensions to the squad, more of the same really

No it doesn't.

And in any case, since when did "pace" become an attribute that can ameliorate once a player adapts to a new league?

"Wow, he used to run like Morientes, but ever since he adapted he's quicker than Cisse!"

He's slow. End of same old story.

More a case of match fitness than adapting to a new league I guess, he has been benched for a long period in Athletico so he may not be at full fitness. That said he does look like another pedestrian

I do remember Souness talking about coming back from Italy to play in British football and being nowhere near the pace of the other players for a few weeks until he had adapted to the different style of play, not that Im expecting Maxi come out in a couple of weeks sporting a Souey style tache and start crunching into any player that gets in his way

It's a shame you need the internet to find some attention though. :'(

As far as Aquilani goes, he's right.
[/quote]

Well I am sure there is a thread about Aqualani about he could post that in. Instead he starts a thread declaring them "disasters", by them I mean he added Maxi supposedly to add weight to his point. Probably because he realised most would see this thread for what it is, a desperate search for attention.

Perhaps, but I think the larger issue is whether he's right ot not.

If he is, then it really deosn't matter if he should hacve dug up some older thread, IMO.

Or the cunting thread title, or first post in thread - which I answered - and thus poor Dickus has made himself look a total retard

"Fucking disaster"

Both of them. Despite Aqualani playing a part in the winners of his last 2 games. Not sure Maxi has done that much wrong yet, infact he's hardly hard a chance to do anything wrong and we have won.

No offense but you need attention. It's not that unusual, infact its quite prevelant on the net.

In fairness Aquilani has been a disaster. Nothing to do with his ability, but paying that much for a player and having him miss most of the first half of the season when we needed him, means he has been a disaster. But once he starts playing more regularly, I'm sure we'll re-evaluate his signing.

Maxi obviously can't be considered a disaster yet.
