Liverpool believe they can land Andreas Weimann on the cheap in the summer after the Austria striker turned down another contract offer at Aston Villa.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of industrious forward Weimann and has been impressed with his breakthrough into the Villa side this season.
The 21-year-old has long been touted as the next big thing at Villa Park, but only broke through this season after bagging 11 goals in 30 matches – including a strike against Liverpool at Anfield.
But despite finally becoming a key player for Paul Lambert, Weimann has twice turned down new contracts at the club and, with just 12 months left on his current deal, Villa are getting twitchy that he could walk away for nothing in a year’s time.
According to the Austrian press, Liverpool are being unofficially kept updated over negotiations between the player and Villa, and are increasingly confident Weimann could be available for as little as £5million in the summer if he doesn’t sign up soon.
The latest round of contract talks took place this week, but nothing has moved forward and it has even been speculated that he turned down a third new offer.
Liverpool are believed to see Weimann as a potential Dirk Kuyt replacement, with Rodgers’ side lacking an industrious forward who can play out wide ever since the Dutchman’s sale to Fenerbache.
Inter Milan and Norwich have previously been linked with Weimann, but it is thought both clubs are perusing other targets at present.

I mentioned in a previous thread somewhere that I liked what I saw whenever I've seen him play.
Whether that's good enough is another thing altogether.
Can do a job for us though IMO.

Not to sure about this?

He's having a great season but alot of players have a great 1st season only to fade in their second especially after a move to a big club.

Also most of his goals have come on the counter attack for Villa when defences have been stretched and I doubt here he would be afforded so much room.

Another player that could easily not be good enough if he moved here. Downing had a better season at Villa the year before we signed him.

Nowhere

People just seem to hate him because he was average on he games he's played for us
His play may have been average but his movement was excellent.
That to me indicates a very decent player who was on a bad run of form.
Once/if he gets his form back he will be a cracking player for us I reckon

Is correct

You can't teach excellent movement. He's got the ability to be a great striker for us
