What about this Pitaluga guy?
Haven't we just bought him?

Would he be higher in the pecking order than kelleher?

There are quite a few keepers who are out of contract next year:

Donnarumma
Vaclik
Muslera
Guaita
Butland
Fabianski
Begovic
Sportiello

We'll probably find our no. 2 from that list next year.

I’d have got on the phone to Hertha Berlin and got karius back but drop him for the spurs games if Bale is playing haha.

We seem to have an obsession with buying youth keeper Sergio never start, so hopefully one of Kelleher or Pitulaga can step up.

Alisson is out, and Adrian is shit. Kelleher is 21 so I think for him its now or never

At this point I’d be tempted to get on the phone to Andy Lonergan and find out if he’s got any plans booked for Oct/Nov

Kelleher turns 22 next month, so I mean he's not exactly some completely green kid. If he's good enough, and the idea is for him to be our long term no. 2, then you might as well throw him in immediately. At this point, he can hardly be worse than Adrian.

Lets not kid ourselves. Kelleher isnt the answer, and certainly shouldnt be starting against Everton.
If that was supposed to be the case. Then he at least would have to have spent last year out on loan performing in the Championship or playing some games.
He can unlike Adrian actually kick a ball to a teammate, but the Aston Villa game last season showed that he also has loads of errors in his game.
If we believe in him, send him out on loan so he can develop and prove himself first.

Is Kelleher better or worse than Adrian? If it’s the latter he should’ve been sent packing over the summer. If it is the former he should start no matter his experience.

To run it in our face Everton have just signed a Swedish keeper Rob Olsen on deadline dat

There is also somethinig inheritantly exciting about giving youth a chance. This unfortunately feels very much like a 'well it can't be any worse' situation re: Adrian.

We're all venting on here but does anyone actually believe Klopp is going to drop Adrian for Kelleher?

I’m 70:30 on him sticking with him. The tactics would be just keep the fucking ball away from the fucking final third of the fucking pitch.

Nah, no chance it happens. Klopp is also the sort of person who hates throwing someone under the bus. He'll stick with Adrian. He won't be axed before next season.

If Kelleher is not ready, and he needs first team experience, then there's no point keeping him as third choice. Send him out on loan, and sign someone else to challenge Adrian for the no. 2 spot.

Michel Vorm and Danijel Subasic are both free agents. Worth getting?

Indeed. He stuck with Lovren for several years of disasters, Adrian will be here until the bitter end of all things.

I'd like to think that going out on loan would be best for him, but who knows what Klopp and the management team thinks.
Are they playing any games in the PL2 league?
Vorm or Subasic arent any better than Adrian. If we were serious about getting competition for that 2nd spot we would have acted yesterday.
It just shows that Klopp will stick with Adrian until Alisson returns. Lets just hope he's back in 4 weeks, rather than 6..

For Klopp to ditch Adrian now would be very much out of character. Hes loyal to a fault, he still hasnt sold Karius. Its not like Adrian suddenly revealed some massive flaw in his game, this is how hes always been from day 1 with us. Theres a reason he wasnt offered an extension at West Ham, hes not good enough. Klopp obviously still isnt that worried by it.

The thing Ive never understood with Adrian is why we signed a keeper that cannot play with the ball at his feet. Hes just not comfortable at all in our system, he doesnt have the pace, positioning or footwork to play the way Becker does. Did we think we could coach that into him at 33?

If we play Adrian they need to use some common fucking sense & not continually pass the ball back to him, & not play that high line constantly.

I have no problem with the high line most of them time, cos having a boss sweeper keeper can account for those few occasions when the ball drops behind & catches the CB's out, & Allison is brilliant at it.

Adrian is not. Neither is he calm under pressure when getting the ball passed back to him with a press on the back line.

So we adapt, drop the line back, play it long a bit more instead of backwards, or ask the DM to drop back to receive it & another cm to to offer an out.

There's a myriad of ways of dealing with having a keeper who isn't Allison, but pretending he can do everything Allison can do & not changing our game at all is the exact opposite thing to do.

If we play Origi instead of Mane we don't continually play the same balls to him that we play to Mane cos he can't do what he does, it should be no different.

Agreed, adapt the game plan to use the players to their strengths. Shouldn't be that hard to avoid passing back to the keeper when we are deep in our own half.
