And who do we replace them with, less than 3 weeks before the season starts?
Matip will leave next season, he only has a year left on his contract. Same with Adrian.
We can't sell Gomez, unless you're convinced that Conor Bradley is ready. Also Gomez is one of our home grown players.
Can we just focus on fixing the midfield for the time being?
The only player we can sell right now who isn't out on loan already and doesn't need replacing is Elliott, unfortunately.
I can't think of anyone else we can sell that wouldn't decimate us somehow. Even Thiago.
Adrian won’t play a game when the season starts, who cares if he goes or stays. We have the option not to register him if he really don’t want to.

Dunno what has gotten into Matip lately, looks so brain dead and so slowwwwwww to react to anything, give him a few smacks, pour a bucket of freezing water over him, Idk…but he’s better than what he’s shown the last 12 months.

Clearly we need to sell all 3 to Saudi for a combined once in a lifetime never to be repeated £30m, then immediately spend it on signing Donnarumma, Gvardiol and Bastoni before teatime!!!

I'm a big Matip fan and I admit that he has regressed a bit, but I wouldn't judge him too much based on that last game. Most of the players looked disinterested and obviously didn't give 100%.
Most importantly, the back three did not look comfortable playing in that formation.
A lot of miscommunication, strange positioning and erratic passing. It just looked horrible from everyone involved.
It was also pretty evident that we were missing an anchor in midfield.
Well LFC the team have been singing that song "Anchor Me" by the mutton birds for like over a season, wish the ownership would answer that.
In one of the 4-4 games last season, Gomez almost retreated into goal and let the opponent have a free shot and score. Matip and Joe was playing if I am not wrong.

Well he hasn't been part of pre season so I'm guessing no chance.

Yep and considering the injury history of four of our CB's, it's not looking good.
As is, Quansah seems to be our 5th choice. I hope we can recall Sepp.
Dont' think Matip can play in the 'new' formation - he's fine still in the 4-3-3, but in the new formation, he's a liability ...
Add in triple daily sessions, and you have slipshod performances all round

He's quietly gotten away from any real criticism but unless my memory is failing me (which in fairness, it often does), he was worse than Fabinho at his worst last season.
Another that looked like he's aged about 15 years and can't keep up with the pace any more.
He still plays well with VvD - but he's not as good as he was when the CL & PL winning seasons obviously.
I thought we were loaning him out again?
