Jose Mourinho will battle it out with AC Milan this summer for the ?24m signature of Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Sportsmail can reveal that the Inter chief, who wrapped up the Serie A title in his first year at the San Siro on Saturday, has targeted Adebayor as part of his rebuilding plans.

It was widely predicted that Mourinho would capture Didier Drogba from his former club Chelsea, but it is understood that Adebayor - seen as a younger version of the Blues striker - is now Mourinho's top target.

Changing man: Days after landing the Serie A title, Inter boss Mourinho is already planning changes

Arsene Wenger claimed Adebayor was missing from the 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Saturday because of a 'hamstring' injury, but he is being primed for a move away from the Emirates.
The Arsenal chief has accepted that the former Monaco striker, who agitated for a move away from the club last summer, will not fetch the ?30m that Milan offered last year.
Instead, Wenger expects Inter to pay around ?24m for the Togo international, although Mourinho will also have to see of competition from city rivals Milan.
Mourinho revealed after their title triumph that they have to replace Adriano, as well as signing two or three other players, and that man is Adebayor.

Adebayor has admitted he is ready to quit the club after supporters turned on him.

'It was not nice playing at home getting booed by my own fans,' he told The Lying Rag. 'I didn’t know what to do any more. If Porto, for example, wants Adebayor, it is not Adebayor’s fault. Why boo me?'

Big loss for them if it happens.

At his best, yes, but not if he's going to continue "playing" like he has in his last couple of games for them. Sometimes there comes a point at which it's best to cash in on a player. I reckon that time's probably come for Adebayor and the Arse.

A straight swap for Ibrahimovic (who's looking for a move) would probably work out best for both parties.

Wenger needs the cash to fund his summer transfer targets, including a defender and midfielder, so he won't be interested in a swap

I reckon Drogba will end up at Inter and will be replaced by Adebayor.

Define 'big loss'?

He's scored only two goals more in the league than that Bendtner-lad who nobody seems to rate. Hardly the return-rate of an unreplaceable player I'd say. He has even started more games too.

In Van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela, Arshavin, Rosicky and Walcott Arsenal have enough fire-power to cash in on Adebayor to strengthen other more needing areas.

He's even grown increasingly unpopular with big chunks of Arsenal fans of late by comparing AC Milan to Beyonce. We all know that Arsenal fans want their club to be Beyonce so that's him shooting a bullet in the foot.

I hope he goes. Lazy f*ker.

Was embarassed watching him against United.

Who do you want to replace him? I'm assuming you don't think Bender is up to it.

Ha, I forgot to ask whether our 6CM lurking Gunner would be tempted to let him go for good money but you've just saved me the editing.

Thought you wouldn't mind this link actually.

I read somewhere that he's only being given 15M to spend this summer, so it does look likely he's gonna have to sell some players to raise other funds.

15M to add to a squad that hasn't won a trophy in 4 years is ridiculous.

We only get 20m and he did just spend 15m on arshavin did he not?

24 fucking mil for Adebayor?? Is he any better than Torres? NO. Fuck them, they are lucky if they get 15mil for him.

Right, and Torres right now isn't valued anywhere near the 20 odd million we paid for him ... Adebayor, in this market, even coming off a rather average season will fetch around what we paid for Torres.

Anyone else catch Mourinho's 'punishment' for Zlatan on Sunday? Supposedly, they were out partying the night before to celebrate the scudetto so Zlatan was basically playing like shite and visibly exhausted. He asked to come off ... So MOurinho made all his substitutions (including subbing the keeper) just to keep him on the pitch. I don't think he'll be there next year. Chelsea?

Haha that's brilliant. That's why it's quite easy to like Mourinho sometimes.

Arsenal can put any fucking value on Adebayor's head but if the clubs like Inter think it is too high, they would not sign him. Plus value on a player does not reflect on how good the player is. I rate Adebayor as just a decent striker. I would take van Persie over him any day of the week, and twice on his mother's birthday.
