Adam Lallana

How much do you think Henderson is worth now to the team and commercially you f - in reverse order - more than we paid and more than we can measure looking at the last two games he has been missing.
At about what we paid for him.
Then again what is Coutinho worth now?

Look. Andy Ford told me Lallana is fucking amazing every week from about 6 years ago.
He sits in the stands at Saint Marys and he is so positive about Lallana and always has been.
I trust him and hope we sign the lad.
He told me we should have signed Bale, Oxlade, Walcott etc. He is always right.

Never mind Andy Ford - I am always right

Oncey, you have let things slip here in my absence, some of these are going to have to undergo a serious re-education

No one got any comments on my Mirror link yet? @Modo @dmishra
It says basically he is a great all rounder and all his stats are up there with some of the best around Europe, and £25m would be around the going rate.

In our heydey going and getting the best british players each year was what we did.
Id love to sign him and the see him tear it up in Brazil.

Fordy, Vladders, Ryan and Andy all on the same page.
This has to be a signing we make happen.

I see my protagonists have run off when presented with facts and stats, oh and Oncey......come back and fight * waves fist in air

Fully backing this signing.

The football Lallana, Coutinho, Allen, Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez could play is fucking mouth-watering.

I stopped reading that when it compared him to Iniesta. Even Cazorla or Goetze for that matter.

Pjanic is probably the one decent comparison the article makes, and Roma bought him for 11 million.

For those of you valuing Lallana at 25M, is he more valuable than Hendo and Coutinho?

I'd be happy with him for 10-12M, maybe even 15M in the right deal. But 25M is stupid, and 20M is still ridiculous.

There's plenty of other options out there.

There's going to be a finite amount of money we can potentially spend this summer, so money is absolutely an object. And Southampton are going to have a bidding war on their best players from clubs that need to satisfy their homegrown quota with talented players. We don't have that issue, and can look elsewhere.

He's the most exciting looking young player since Gascoigne... What is the fucking problem? Him in behind S & S with Raheem buzzing around as well. And some of you DON'T want this, if it's a few million over what you think is acceptable. Madness.

25 years young, 26 when the season starts.

£25 million for Lallana is sheer madness. He's had two seasons in the PL, and his cumulative stats are 12 goals and 11 assists. That isn't even a £15 million player. Add to the fact that he's 26.

To be fair, he's probably a bit of a late developer, and he's come into his own this year. But when it you break him down, he's essentially a goalscoring attacking midfielder. He's not a game changing winger or a playmaker, so we really need to value him by how many goals he'd add to the team.

Just as a comparison, we bought Kuyt when he was 26 for 10 million, and he repaid that with 71 goals in 6 seasons.

Is Lallana going to better that? If he isn't, then we shouldn't be thinking of paying much more (bar any amount accounting for inflation).

For what it's worth, I do think he's a nice player. How good is he? I'd think of him as a rich man's Leon Osman basically.

Osman's stats btw are 53 goals in 10 seasons. What would that be worth? 6 million tops, I'd say.

Let's say Lallana gets those 53 goals in 6 seasons. How much extra is that worth? Not more than double surely? That's really his true value. Anything more is overpaying.

Urgh, hate to do it but can't help myself, it really does have to be said that this is an utter abortion of a post, sorry, you post good stuff most of the time.

I get the worries and understand the 'don't buy him because hes expensive' side of the argument but what is this illogical random stat and player stuff? Leon Osman? fecking hell, not a playmaker?, not a game changer? did you not see what happened when he came on for England last month when the team was playing like shit as usual? hes does that sort of shit most weeks, the majority of everything good Saints do goes through Lallana, he plays in pretty much an attacking free role, hes a highly skilled technical player, great off both feet, good dribbler, really good in tight spaces, creates and scores goals and works his bollocks off.

Who really gives a shit if we pay 6/7 million more than what people think hes worth?, what really matters if hes a good player or not and if he would do well for Liverpool, Leon Osmans or Dirk Kuyts goal records are irrelevant as is the backwards one dimensional notion of valuing him purely on goals scored.

the price being paid wouldn't matter too much with the exception that we usually fuck big deals up and we don't have city or chelsea money to soak those mistakes up.

And like it or not a price tag like that brings pressure . He's nearly 26 and never had to deal with anything like the level of expectancy he will here . Can he handle all that ? We've seen with Henderson and i guess to a degree Allen , that it can take time to get used to and get settled . he won't have as much time to settle , at that age he needs to perform straight up . Anyway will he even get in the team ahead of coutinho or sterling ? (this is not rhetorical , i've never watched the cunt so have no idea ) .

oh and if this lad is the real deal then fair enough but when you hear nearly 26 yrs old , 2 yrs in the premier league , english and going to win the world cup , 25m pounds ...well it's hard for alarm bells not to start ringing .

and no i don't trust rodgers or this committee with transfers .

I don't have much of a clue about Lallana, so I think I'm neutral on this. I do find it interesting to see the 10m gap in terms of valuation between one camp and the other though.

How does he rank in terms of overall ability in relation to these guys at their new clubs?
1. Mkhitaryan
2. Willian
3. Salah
