That could work!

Lallana Lallana
Lallana Lallana Lallana
Lallana Lallana

Repeat etc.

And we all like Liverpooooool. We're gonna score one more than youuuu

I hate that song, though. So my "Shit is Lallanas" is best.

We lost it with one of the site memory losses. I actually ached with laughter reading it. It was like something Tom Bombadil would sing.

It relied on adding the suffix -o to words at the ends of lines.

So it had lines like 'When Mascher hits the ball-o' and 'When Mascher scores a goal-o'.

I remember it being hilarious, but I can't remember the words.

I really cannot fathom why you have not already realised that The Pina Colada Song is perfect in its campness for this particular possible signing. Like God, I will sit back and shake my head as I watch you keep failing.

That one's all wrapped up.

It's this (to the tune of D.A.N.C.E by Justice)

He's S T, U D G E,
England's Number 9
Plays for Liverpool FC
Keeps scoring all the time
Left City and left Chelsea,
Cos they were not right
Now he plays for LFC
He's set the world alight

He's S T, U D G E,
Fuck City and fuck Chelsea
Scores his goals for LFC
Do the dance, do the dance

(doo, doo-doo)
Came to a club that's got history
(doo, doo-doo-doo)
We've got legends like Bill Shankly
(doo, doo-doo)
Came to a club that's got history
(doo, doo-doo-doo)
We've got legends like Bob Paisley

Repeat etc

Oh and I'm undecided. He's come from nowhere, apparently, and now is flavour of the month. There's been plenty like this; Roque Santa Cruz and Amir Zaki to name but two.

At £25m he'd be a big gamble but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I think people are getting too hung up on price. A couple of points, this transfer window is going to be a blood bath, it will be a sellers market, United will be starting a massive rebuild, Barca too they will be stocking up if the appeal us turned down, Arsene will be under pressure to strengthen and Spurs will be there again as well as the money rich usual suspects. Oh and us. Then we have the World Cup which puts a big hold on proceedings messes with values and creates a feeding frenzy on certain players that have a good tournament.
Then we have the issue we have in the past , Ayre going out and trying to fuck selling clubs on player values, dragging on for weeks and then missing out to the likes of Chelsea and Spurs who swoop in and slap the money on the table.
We can't afford to do that this window - no, I mean we really can't . We need to get our business done early, be swift and decisive even if we pay a premium for the ones Brendan wants, we have to act like a big club in that respect. Identify our targets and go in and get them.
Anyone that can't see Lallana would be an asset to any team has been living down a coal mine this season.

Do you ever champion an English player?

Sadly I championed Carroll and had my fingers burnt. Downing, allen and adam also make me wary. For 25m Lallana is a massive gamble.

I am a big Barkley and Shaw fan, but again the sums in question make you wonder.

I was only messing but if you have Carroll in your back catalogue you need to be wary!

I really don't think Lallana is worth it if the fee is over £20 million.
Personally I reckon that his price is around £15 million, using Allen as a reference.

We've been linked with Benfica's Lazar Markovic quite a lot the last few weeks. I saw him play for Benfica tonight and would tentatively suggest he'd be a better option that Lallana. He tends to play right wing, but to me looks like he might excel in the kind of role we'd use Lallana in: he's got a really solid range of attributes: technically exellent, pacy, clever passer, beats players, etc, and is very athletic and hard-working as well. He's also only just turned 20 so is pretty much an ideal age.

Personally I'd much rather invest £25m in him than Lallana.

You saw him play tonight Peter - Lallana has had a fabulous season, and by all accounts last year too. I really don't see why there should any negativity to any proposed deal. It's preposterous , he has been one of the stand out players of the season.

£25 million for Lallana is sheer madness. He's had two seasons in the PL, and his cumulative stats are 12 goals and 11 assists. That isn't even a £15 million player. Add to the fact that he's 26.

To be fair, he's probably a bit of a late developer, and he's come into his own this year. But when it you break him down, he's essentially a goalscoring attacking midfielder. He's not a game changing winger or a playmaker, so we really need to value him by how many goals he'd add to the team.

Just as a comparison, we bought Kuyt when he was 26 for 10 million, and he repaid that with 71 goals in 6 seasons.

Is Lallana going to better that? If he isn't, then we shouldn't be thinking of paying much more (bar any amount accounting for inflation).

For what it's worth, I do think he's a nice player. How good is he? I'd think of him as a rich man's Leon Osman basically.

Osman's stats btw are 53 goals in 10 seasons. What would that be worth? 6 million tops, I'd say.

Let's say Lallana gets those 53 goals in 6 seasons. How much extra is that worth? Not more than double surely? That's really his true value. Anything more is overpaying.

Sheer madness? You are having a laugh aren't you, it's hardly that.
How on earth does Dirk come into this bizarre comparison of either the player or the comparative markets.
He is worth what he is as he is one of the stand out players of the premier league, and is cementing his international place. Also for the reasons I outlined in my post about this transfer window.
