I notice that whilst Carroll has been out, we've played a cunning NO striker formation.
Suarez plays wide left(ish), Kuyt wide right(ish) and Maxi ahead of the midfield.
No one stays up there. Its odd. It works lovely though.

Other things i noticed today:
It took the mancs 37 seconds to score.
It took us 31 seconds to score.
Lee Mason was very good tonight.

Ryan will love the NO STRIKER tactic chat.

I think Bayern tried that out before.

suarez stayed up their on his bill quite a bit, but he just cant stay still for too long, i think he's got restless leg syndrome

So did Scotland with their patented 4-6-0 formation.

Isn't Barca doing it right now?
Villa plays on the right and messi in the middle even though he's not an out and out striker

Dave - Thanks for alerting the forum to my tactical nous and the fact I suggested this ages ago. Saved me having to do it.

Roma were the first side to do this a few years back actually to any success. United also did it in a Champions League final against Barca but fucked it up properly, and both Barca and Real used it in that shambles of a game at the Bernabeu 2 weeks ago.

It works if you've got absolute quality players who can move everywhere. Again, another theme I've pushed for quite a while.

Hmmm, it;'s a very good point.

Was thinking about it when I was watching the game actually. There are a million suggestions and conundrums; I guess the easiest way of thinking (and quickest) is that he gives us a markedly different option. I keep saying it; best 11 happens on paper alone. You need different teams, formations, tactics and players cos your 'best 11' will happen no more than 5 times a season.

I want us to follow United's lead on this. Berbatov, Rooney and Hernandez all scoring 20 odd goals, all being deployed differently throughout the year. That's the way forward.

I think we should get rid of Carroll. That kind of slow and clumsy players do not have role to play in fast moving modern football what Dalglish wants us to play. It's time to admit that we made a very expensive panic buy and cut our losses. He's simply not good enough to this level and he also has an alcoholic problem which is very worrying.

People have been banging about Suarez-Carroll partnership but what I have seen, they do not seem to click at all. Carroll is just too stupid footballer to play with Suarez. Actually more clever Kuyt has formed an excellent partnership with Suarez.

Only good thing of Carrolls very serious injury pronenes is that he has not played much for us, and therefore his reputation is still somehow good. If we sell him quick we can make a decent deal and might get even 15M. If we keep him until next summer, he will have a reputation of clown.

Pity you already have this reputation. Seriously, the only reason i can figure you have posted that is to fucking wind people up. No one can be that fucking stupid to form an opinion that carroll and suarez don't work considering theyve had probably no more than 500 minutes playing together.

Can't the wum cunt just be fucked off, he does it all the fucking time to get a reaction.

Where Andy scored two cracking goals.

Now now, let's be nice to Svennis..

It must have been *agonizingly* difficult to seek out a negative from yesterday's game, so for him to actually find one, however forced and tenuous, speaks to his great ability.

I salute you, sir.
