The slow decline of Daniel Sturridge

It is a little unfortunate that his return to the side has coincided with an all-round horrific downturn in form. There have been little sparks here and there showing that he may be working his way back but the support has not been there (obviously it does without saying that it's a two way street and his form has been far from satisfactory... but I'll say it anyways).

Yep, I don't think Sturridge has declined so much as he's part of a struggling team and he has to contend with being a substitute in the main. Hardly ideal to show your better form.

It is obvious that it is easier to "shine" when playing for an in form team... SO the lack off neat stepover, Magic dribbles and setting himself up to score a goal can be Down to the Whole team struggling. However the basic attitude, the lack of sprints and some disinterest is more worrying. We need leaders to drag us out of the mud when we go through a bad patch. Studge is the best paid player and one of the more experienced in the squad. I think we should expect him to lead on the pitch, and especially when we lack natural leaders. Phil is one, but he has been out. Matip another that has been out. Hendo has struggled. Milner has taken responsibility, but for a left back it is hard to influence the game to much.

He's been fucking shite for the last month. Absolutely fucking shite. He's been rubbish all season, as his 2 league goals by February attests.

I know everyone's frustrated with his diminishing pace, and crowing about the unfortunate nature of his injuries - but he's not in a fucking wheelchair.

He's 27 years of age, is the highest earner at the club, and is fit. We could have used with some of that experience over the last month, and it would have been nice to have relied upon him whilst other players were out.

As it is, he's been so absurdly shite he can barely get int the 11 that has been without Mane, Coutinho and for some parts - Lallana.

I get that he's missed chances, it happens. But the attitude and effort should be a minimum.

We got nothing; just a fucking sad sack excuse for a footballer. He's left Klopp with no choice but to move past him.

For someone with a surfeit of skills, even if he was in a wheelchair, you'd assume he would be well suited to the fluid one touch football we were playing in the first half of the season, and for me that is the most disappointing thing. Yes we know he cannot press and has lost a bit of pace, but his passing and movement have been utter shite. What a shame, time to move on, never thought I would be saying that.

i don't think this is the end of his career as a top forward but it's looking increasingly likely that this club and Klopp cannot rely on him to deliver in this environment
