3pm kick offs blackout.

Okay.

Bit more about this (if anyone cares!) :

Al jazeera have said that they'll be cancelling their contract for premiership matches at the end of the season.

Keys says that 'normal service will be resumed' 'they're working on it'
'Trust me'

Those two things combined tell me that Al jazeera are trying to negotiate more games.

However, in the meantime, do not get an Al jazeera subscription.

The pubs are all rushing out & buying' ATN3000' boxes which are basically plug & play boxes that stream from Al jazeera, also, the customers in the middle East all have to use the online service to watch the games now, so they're service is being battered & has suffered massively.

I'm in the process of getting my options sorted, but looks like I'll be getting a dodgy (reseller) nbc subscription & using a smartdns service to watch the rest of this season's 3pm kick offs.

The reason this has come about is that sky reps went to pubs round London last month & checked the unlicensed (for sky) pubs, almost all we using Al jazeera satellite feeds to show the game.

i have the al jez sub, even using a vpn I still get "geo blocked" for the prem games

VPN's get blocked way too easily.

Use overplay smartdns. Most Al jazeera sub holders here use them so they get swamped whenever they're blocked & change quickly, they also add & swap out ips before the weekends.

As an aside, using a vpn should be your last step after trying a couple of smartdns services.

I don't know if you know how they work but they basically adapt your normal ip address to read whatever the site you're in wants to see. I got a trial yesterday & went onto Al jazeera, then to iplayer, then hulu & it worked perfectly.

You also get full speed of your connection so as Al jazeera streams are adaptive you'll get Hd streams.

I'm going for an nbc account though, Al jazeera accounts are twice the price for lesser quality.

Mate out of interest, what line of work are you in btw?

Wow - I don't think I've ever read something and not understood it as much as this! And I read some weird shit!

Ok. Here's an example:

A vpn is basically a tunnel. So you need to access a service in the US but you're in England so you're not allowed.

You buy a US vpn & that sends the data through the tunnel to you in the UK.

Problem is the tunnel is slower, much slower than a normal connection & has one or two ip addresses (the number that identifies it). You also have to switch it off to access UK only sites again.

That can obviously be easily blocked once the US source knows it's really a tunnel to the Uk.

The smartdns is more like a cloaking device, that's mostly effective but won't stand up to massive scrutiny, however it will fool basic websites & almost all streams once the owners of it optimise it to do so.

Because it only makes you look like you're in the US when you're in the UK, & there's no tunnel involved you get full speed. It's also harder to block cos they're easier & cheaper for the provider to buy up new blocks of ip addresses that a used to cloak their customers real address.

The other big advantage is it can adapt, so switch to a middle eastern site or a UK site & it tells the website what it wants to hear so you get access.

Hope that makes a bit more sense at least!

Thanks - I was just making the point that you are obviously very technically savvy and like another poster alluded to, maybe you are in the wrong profession!

Ha. My knowledge is a bit higher than some peoples but is still rudimentary.

I understand the concepts behind most of these things but not how they actually carry out that work, so as soon as code or protocols become involved I'm useless!

So does this mean streaming sites like LOF will now not have as many games?

Or will they do what you're doing?

I'd assume they'll either recruit people to stream from the middle East or the US, or failing that they'll restream nbc or Al jazeera somehow.

Yeah, premireleaguepass is the NZ one. Vpns & smartdns are limited there though so seems unlikely to get the Hd quality I want that easily.

Why can't you sign up?

They got back to me within 15 minutes.

Take the hint love.

Did you buy it?

I'd recommend anyone buying a sub, even a one day, now, cos if the demand shoots up (which it's likely to now) they'll close registration & you'll be locked out unless you've signed up a least once.

Coverage is great here - in experimenting with streaming sport - mainly North American stuff, but isn't there an internet supper called Dishworld that streams everything?

There's a way to get in to Foxtel websites over here as well to watch games - & ESPN for things like Champions League.

Did you test it out yet? Is it working fine? I might snap up a subscription as I'm sharing a LOF account.

Speaking of sharing LOF accounts, has anyone had their account suspended for sharing passwords? Just wondering.

Someone on another forum I frequent occasionally has been blocked for doing it.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm gonna fly FFF and his family to Melbourne for a month. And he's gonna set up my whole shit.

And we'll probably do a heap of drugs and shit too.

Ha. Now that sounds like a plan!

I think half the forum have that standard agreement (some without the drugs addendum) on the event of a lottery win now.

Seriously dude. Sack the kids off, get 'em sweeping chimneys or shining shoes or some shit.

You should be exchanging that knowledge for coin somewhere.

Addendum: I'm jealous as well, would have loved to stay at home with my kids
