30 million pound Sterling bid rejected - new bid made

40 m is around the point where I start considering it.

At minimum I'd be figuring what we could get with that money

Still got to hand QPR their 20% cut though, so the 40 is actually 32. I'd sell when our take home cut is ~50mill. They can sort out QPR themselves directly the wankers. They don't have to worry about ffp or the business losing money etc, so they should be forced to pay top whack.

Actually, I'd probably accept this current offer, on the proviso they commit to buy borini, balotelli, and lambert from us.

40 mill is a deal that could be accepted if its a straight cash offer.

We've said 50 mill though and City are clearly desperate at the moment when it comes to English players, so we should definetly hold out for 50 mill.
Citys "last bid" comments is clearly bollocks.

They are desperate for home grown players, if sterling was bulgarian they'd have moved on ages ago. We just need to not blink on this one and I think we'll hit the jackpot.

I thought the 20% cut was capped at £5m?

I didn't know that. If it is then I guess we're way past that being a concern then. We only need to get to about ~55mill from the bastards then.

I would draw up a contract for £75m. Legal and binding. Sign it. Send it to them. Say all you need to do is sign it. End of discussion.

I wouldn't even consider selling him this season. We shouldn't do business with his current agent. Sterling needs to learn some respect.

I fail to see how cash is of use to us anyway, we need players and the owners aren't strapped.

Sterling wouldn't harm his own personal interests by going on strike for all the reasons others have said. A season in the wilderness and he'll be forgotten.

I have some sympathy for the boy as he has been badly advised but he needs to learn a valuable lesson.

Rumblings that the little shit has been advised to hand in a transfer request now. Not sure how much difference this makes in todays world? I know there's talk of forgoing a 'loyalty bonus' but if that's only pennies due to him being on 35k a week, then I'm not sure how much good it does. We'll just say 'we'll sell you when someone matches our valuation of you'.
Do transfer requests mean shit these days?

Not in this case so much, cos we know he wants to go anyway, & if we decide not to sell its tough, he stays anyway.

It's about the only thing he can do now to try to force a sale, short of biting someone like.

So the answer is: don't accept it.

A 12 year old, after arguing himself into this mess, would have a quick google and go for a transfer request out of desperation. That's Aidy Ward's level. He's a bloke on a mobile, sitting in a succession of burger bars barking out stuff he's heard in Jerry McGuire. If the club bows down to him it's finished.

It's a request. It's still up to us. We need to drain them of all energy and dignity. This is hardball. Werner plays this all the time (not that the talentless wanker has commissioned a half-decent TV show for decades); they all need to step up now and make a stand, or act ike Randy Lerner, say, 'You know what? I can't be arsed,' and bugger off.

If he hands in the transfer request and he looses his loyalty bonus so a win win for us

Exactly. Win win for us. And when the little prick does hand it in we should then tell him his loyalty bonus is going to Ibe. Just to piss him off further. Oh and while we're at it we should ban that cunt Ward from Anfield and the Academy. Oh and fuck it stick a load of sell on clauses in his city deal just in case the prick does become a world beater and goes to Barca/Real.

They're American. I'm sure they view Sterling as an insignificant employee who was allowed to exceed his holiday entitlement, offered a pay rise, smoked shisha, inhaled helium, been in court for various things, and now has the temerity to take on the club, has a ridiculous agent, then appears on TV with an unfortunate haircut.

It's like a fly that you don't want to swat because its a living creature, but the annoying little shit simply won't leave it the fuck alone. John Henry is probably rolling up a newspaper as I type.

I find it uttery insane if it turns out Sterling's contract, signed when he was 17, has a loyalty clause.

Do you think he will really give a damn? Just defend the club. That's the important thing.

He will if they refuse to sell him this season. Then instead of throwing him out of the window, using the paper to pick him up and place him next to a spider.

If they've offered £40 mill already, I'm happy whatever happens now.mas that's a great minimum point which will no doubt rise again with their last bid. That's a great fucking deal for a kid who has a lot to prove yet and who has caused nothing but friction for months and clearly won't play well for us ever again.
£40 mill plus for a bundle of potential is nuts.

Is the right answer.

This is mainly true,
On the other hand,
Remember his goal against Chelsea? do you have anyone else in the squad that can do that? No you don't
Do you think we'd get one of those players that can do such things? No we will not.

Fuck Sterling, he has a contract, he'd stay and play and be better than 90% of our squad, that's what will take us ahead, after that he can fuck off, selling him now will weaken us.
