We deal with that then.
What are suggesting? We sell him now?
Of course not. I want him to get his deal. I think 100k is fair.

We'll sell him either way.By the time he's 25 either he's a superstar and he's worth it or we sell him
I think that if this whole circus is real and Sterling truly is disaffected with his lot, then selling him isn't such a bad message.
Like I said previously, he's a good player but so what? We could easily get between 30 - 50 million for him in the market right now which could (if spent wisely) get us a couple of players with an end product that equals or betters that of Sterling.
It seems to me that this guy is destined to leave either now or within a couple of years. Best get used to it.
His agent will probably respond to Brendan's quotes by attaching the following screenshot in an email to the club.
Tricky one. I wouldn't disagree with the above as far as it goes but, if we want to return to being a club which buys rather than sells players like Sterling, we need our best players sticking around.
If he'd been given a good offer, there would be no stories in the media.
And Brendan wouldn't be out singing about the incredible offer we've made to the young player.
I love how we throw money at shit signings like it's monopoly money, then start to become 'prudent' when dealing with a good player.
Jon Lester is a Cub because of shit like this
This is why I've said he's overrated by many fans before, people think he's on the same level as Sturridge, he's not, yet. 90-100k seems like a very reasonable offer to me.Hes not worth 120k a week.
5 goals all season, most of it played up front.
He should get a contract that reflects his potential.
90k next season with promoters to 100k the following season for say 10 league goals and so on and so forth.

Definitely hear you on that JJ.
But why be held hostage by a guy who seems to be angling for something that we simply can't (or won't) deliver?
We can't complain about being a selling club if we don't have the means to be paying the wages that Real, City, United or Chelsea can pay. They will always have that trump card, no?
He would easily be the difference between a CL spot and 7th place.
We'd be mad not to tie him down.
That and no player would join a club that would Sterling go on a free.

So he aint worth that kind of deal but should get it so he is worth a lot of money for us in a couple of years.?If he gets a 5yr deal @ 120k+ a week, he better start improving as he ain't worth that.
Regardless, we need him on a deal so we'll get big money for him in a couple of years.
If its a goals bonus he wont get anywhere near 130k.Sterling's offer: region of £100k-a-week, plus bonuses for goals & assists which could inflate his wages to £130k-a-week. (Paul Joyce) #LFC
That should be more than enough...

That's a very good deal and I can't understand his reservations if so, it would suggest that maybe he wants to leave or rather maybe waiting to see if we make the champions league or not before commiting.
I do wonder what Sturridge earns, because I hope it's more than Sterling's new contract.
Maybe he has no reservations with it? I imagine meetings to sign contracts are set up a few days in advance and there's a few days to look it over before signing it. Maybe a few days making amendments over finer details, that are nothing to do with the actual salary.
The days of players going in and signing simple contracts on the spot are over.
If he hasn't signed anything in a month, then we should get worried.
Very true, I just assumed this was the contract which had been rejected ala the thread title.
