In any other era Ronaldo would be lauded as one of the all-time greats. He's an absolute superstar that boy, but because of society's general need to have a winner and a loser in all duels - he gets pilloried. 'Doesn't do it in the big games, doesn't work hard enough, doesn't track back, dives too much, acts like a prima donna... etc etc and so forth'.
Look at those stats. Look at his United ones too. He's not even a fucking striker.
He's hardly done by, essentially cos he's about 1, 2 per cent off what Messi is. So somehow people view him as a failure, and look to point out the faults in his game, as if it is in some way fair to judge him against the standards of Messi. Or because he hasn't done it at a world cup. Fuck that. You try winning a world cup with Helder fucking Postiga as your main target man.
It;'s unfair, and it's shit. Look at Zidane, fat Ronaldo, Figo, plenty of others. They all had deficiencies in their game, but few of them could beat the continual all-round excellence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
He may be a cock, he may be a diver, he may be Mourinho in football shirt, and Christ knows yes he loves himself. But he's got every fucking right too.
Just because he's not Messi doesn't make him an inferior being. He's one of the best players any of us will see in our lifetime. Enjoy it.
