I finshed watching series 2 of Life on Mars last night and loved the ending.
The whole 1973 versus today was always a nostalgic and interesting comparison during the series but which parts of 1973 authority and way of living living were good and which were we right to get rid of?
Which parts of the controlled, insured, pampered PC life we live today would be better if they were more 1973?
Obvious good and bad examples from the series include...
Coppers getting away with a few punches to get witnesses to speak (got results to be fair LOL)
Coppers making people fear them and fear messing with them (kids included)
Bureaucracy/red tape of policing not even thought of
Smoking on the job (all the fucking time)
Drinking booze on the job
Non PC way of living (racial, sexual innuendos in the office, nudey calendars in the office etc)
The local pub being the hub of society
No health and safety
I suspect a mix of the two would be best but which things (really looking forward to starting Ashes to Ashes now)
