I never get very much work completed on the anniversaries. I find myself reliving what I witnessed and endured and thinking about my friend, David Mather, and all of the lads and girls who lost their lives on a day when we should have been roaring Kenny's Liverpool on to the Cup Final.

This year is different though. Not only did Hillsborough have a dramatic effect on my teenage years, two years later it lost my club the man who was my hero from the age of 7. Kenny's return caused a significant increase in what is right with my world and the position of Liverpool manager is exactly where he is meant to be.

A great player, a great manager and a great man. A man more than worthy of being Knighted unlike that drunken piece of trash from down the East Lancs Road. Unlike the Liverpool board, I see absolutely no reason to "wait and see".

Rafa clearly loves the club.

Sad to watch that. Thanks for posting the Kenny Vid too.

RIP the 96.

Rafa says some strange things in the media at times and made his mistakes in his time at Anfield, but he clearly understands the club and loves Liverpool dearly. Fair play to him for going.

Some very emotional scenes at Anfield. Especially touched by the love to Rafa and by his tears.
Respect for all the tweetters who remember.
Respect to Redcafe for the thread.

Indeed, but I dare say the thread might have taken a slightly different slant had our League positions been reversed.

[/quote]I know none of us like Man U or their supoporters but I don't think there is anything in the Redcafe thread to support that theory Avvy and I think they are well due the respect they have been given.

I would suggest that it was alot more respectful than a thread on Munich would be on many Liverpool sites.

Besides, this isn't the thread to discuss such matters.

Rafa's work for, and contributions to the Hillsborough justice campaign is a real credit to him.

Yup, spot on.

I know it's not really something to joke about but I noticed this little "faux pas" on twitter:

JUSTICE FOR THE 96TH! WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!!! massive game tomorrow..

Does anyone else think Rafa's tears were down in some small part to him realising he's done with LFC. Like, completely and utterly done. I got a sense of that. Probably just me.

I think that counts as goodbye.
