13 or Bust - Liverpool vs Newcastle

Enjoyed every minute of the season!

The palace draw was hard to digest, but I can understand the panic considering the lack of experience. We were playing last most of the time in the last five weeks. I don't think that kind of pressure is manageable when walking a tight rope. We really needed at least 13 consecutive wins to put that level of pressure on city and it eventually proved to be a big ask. I'm gutted for everyone in the team, but most importantly Gerrard...he is going to find it hard to forget.

We really missed a trick by not playing Agger against Chelsea and Palace.

Farewell to Agger, I wish him all the luck. Great way to end his career at Liverpool by getting the 100th goal this season.

Still believe that leaving him out cost us.

Man of the match: Agger.

Well played boys.
At the start of the season I would have done with us coming 4th, but hey we nearly had the league!!

I still maintain that he looks a lot more confident with the ball at his feet than his replacement and as a result of that we looked more composed in defence and easily played the ball up to midfield.
Granted, I only watched the 2nd half.

Of course I'm a bit biased being an Agger fan boy and all.

Sakho is our future though, maybe he'll be better next season.

Feel for Gerrard above all... whether you agree or not, his slip is what did us in in the end. We get something from that game, we don't go chasing more goals at Palace and we go on to win the League. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite so cruel in football before.

Roll on next season I suppose... Rodgers needs to make sure hang on to Luis (who I would let rest after the World Cup until a week before the season starts) but he'll also need to buy well and remember to prioritise the League. Rafa got it very wrong after the last time we finished second... we can't have that happen again.

IMO we were ultimately undone by having too small a squad as much as anything. Our best players got overused, besides which I can't help wondering whether Rodgers' apparent tactical mistakes against Chelsea and Palace were the result of his not being confident that we could make a cannier approach work in those games even if we tried. He now needs large-scale backing from FSG in the summer transfer market. Hopefully the fact that we came so close this season will ensure he gets it.

Predictive text can be a bitch. 😉

Anyone notice Cissokho looking like a lost lamb when we were defending Newcastle's final corner in the dying minutes of the game? It was hilarious.

I felt a bit of pity for him though, as he tries and seems to have a good attitude, but he is just not a really poor player. Team mates were trying their best to avoid passing him the ball - of course, the way he wasted the ball almost every time he had possession probably had something to do with that.

Credit to him for one thing though - he pushed far up the field and stayed at the sidelines, thus stretching the field of play instead of the first half where Flanagan was often stopping just a few metres into their half and allowing Newcastle to stay home and compact. If Newcastle knew how hapless Cissokho was though, they probably would have just taken their chances and tucked in their right back instead of worrying about him.

And Dowd... what a crap performance by him. Again.

I hope there is money available, if the right kind of talent is identified....but I'm wary of having yet another transfer window like the one we had under Kenny.

Yep, the defining moment in the title race, it really is a sick joke that it had to be him.

We need to do a Arbeloa/Mascherano/Alonso/Reina kind of signing....not world record transfers, but were absolutely the right player to bring in. The kind of signing we would do again if we got a chance to do over one more time.

you know what fuck city , fuck chelsea ...i know it's not as simple as just throwing money at the league but without it they'd both be nowhere , especially city . we're doing things the right way and hopefully we get the rewards in years to come .

Just look at city's strength in depth.

It never meant we couldn't win it but it always made it unlikely.

We have a mixed bag of an eleven. With dross to come off the bench. They have the likes of milner and Dzeko to come in.

Bloody good effort and role on the transfer window!

Missed Agger in the run-in. We look better organised in the middle of defence and he brings the ball out of from the back much better than any of the other centre-halves.

But this was great season despite the stumble at the end. Just look at Man City's options off the bench when a game needs changing and you begin to realise the enormity of our achievements.

Looking forward to better acquisitions in the summer.

Preicsely sir ... It probably won't work, but you can only play the game with the cards you're dealt ...

It's not? I think City and Chelsea have proven that it is just as simple as spending to win the league.

Since Abromovich bought Chelsea: 3 titles in 11 seasons.

Since Sheik Mansour bought Man City: 2 titles in 5 seasons.

Utd have been clearly the most successful club since Abramovich came in, and have spent very little compared to Chelsea and City.

What a brilliant season. To finish 2nd from 7th, score 100 goals is amazing. Back in the champions league. I'd bite your hand off for exactly the same next season and maybe a cup. I think Suarez, Sturridge, sterling have been utterly brilliant this year.
Couple of good additions in the summer and we'll be ready to build on it.
Onwards and upwards
