Youth / Reserve Team Thread... 2010 - 2013

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

in fairness , his five finishes were all excellent , very calm and picked his spot. When he dribbles the ball just sticks to his feet , reminds me of messi's style.

But as a team in general , they passed it around quite nicely for periods in the second half ..good to see they're being thought proper football from an early age .
They've a number of very promising players , look alot better than the youth teams that won the cup a few yrs ago .Also have Wisdom and ngoo to come back in. Obviously though the step up to first team football is massive so we'll have to see what happens but it's promising .

Fucking hell, it's Perv City round here today !

So I'm guessing you don't fancy U18s?

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

In recent times people reporting that we had a major talent on our hands would do nothing for me because I still wouldn't expect to see them given much of a chance.

So I'm so glad KD is back. You know he'll give a kid a chance if he thinks he has what it takes. I expect the kids know that too.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Awesome from the lad AGAIN.
Hes going to be huge........eem not stature obv.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

when he first joined us, i knew we had something special and i remained adamant - he'll be the first starlet, since Stevie G who will actually graduate to become a star in the first team.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Just got in from the game, I was promoted/denoted to ballboy in the anfield rd. I read onhere the other day that this kid couldn't shoot. 5 shots 5 goals i think. The kid is fucking awesome I have not seen a player with his pace since Owen, but he's a skillful fucker. It was a great team performance aswell. What stuck out. Though was the one touch passing this team was brilliant. It looks like the Spanish fella is starting to get the barca mentallity into these kids. Sama the centre back looks impressive aswell he's a big cunt. Suso didn't have the best of games he seemed to want to take the entire opposistion team on instead of passing. All in all tremendous performance.

Are Southend a poor youth team or did we just play exceptionally.

what position was he playing?
LW, switched to RW when Buju Banton came on in the 70th.

Scored his 5th from the RW position.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

I suppose we can expect Neil to start a thread tomorrow called "should raheem start on the wing next game ?" ?

Nah, Suso has that covered (despite not being a winger).

Played on the RW today.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

still think suso is the better of the two.
i did say that the reserves are the best I've seen in ages. rafa legacy looks like being the reserves rather than the first team he left.
we'd save ourselves a fortune by shipping out the likes of jove and poulsen and making the likes of raheem, suso and jonjo take their place on the bench.

they're both amazingly good. suso was quiet tonight, but still showed plenty of quality, and you only have to look at his performance vs crystal palace to see just how good a player he's going to be. so that's 2 players brought in for £2m who could be worth upwards of £40m in 2-3 years time - incredible business.

i wonder when some on here are going to start giving benitez credit for the unbelievable amount of good he did for this club? maybe when i STFU about him? so, never, basically.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

When you mean 'never'; do you mean that some people will never give him credit or that you'll never shut the fuck up about him? ;D

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

anyone who watches the reserves on a semi regular basis will tell you the reserves were pretty poor (even with the youth cup wins) and has seen an explosion in quality in the past three years, pretty much the time when rafa took more of a hand in it's developement or rather spent more money to bring in top talent.

the latter, obviously.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

am I correct in seeming to recall that Shelvey and sterling were not really Rafas signings and more to do with Kenny at the academy.

Don't think so...

Benitez - who has signed highly rated Charlton midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, 18, and 15-year-old England youth international Raheem Sterling from QPR recently - says the club have a long-term plan to bring "British players with passion" to the club.

Liverpool signed 18-year-old Shelvey from League One side Charlton
"(We want) players who you can feel what playing for Liverpool means to them," said Benitez,
"Shelvey is one of these and we have two or three names ready so we will try to do the best for the club.
"I was trying to sign Gareth Barry before and Glen Johnson was the same idea - we have this long-term plan in place and we will try to follow the plan."
Putting aside the Benitez issue (and im not sure ANYONE doesnt credit him with overhauling the academy) its a bit of a leap to say from cracking looking at youth level to 40m FORTY million worth of talent.
Thats crazy man. They might not even make it.
