Youth / Reserve Team Thread... 2010 - 2013

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

It's bizarre watching a wide player with pace and skill in a red shirt.

It's a bit like reliving a dream.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

looks really short but looks like he will become amazing if he continues to progress this way. Really exciting stuff

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Ngoo is a great prospect aswell. Got the height, pace and strength to be a perfect target man.

Thanks for the video link Ken, I have to say this lad is one of the bright spots at the club at the moment. I'm genuily excited about some of the prospects we have, and we actually have the perfect U-18 coach to develop them.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

We get Liverpool TV on the local pay channel and I enjoy watching the U18's and Reserves. We have some real impressive players on the come up. I'm pretty damn excited by our playing future.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

I dont know how good a 15 year old is meant to be but id say he looks like a cross between Mark Walters and Bolo Zendan in that video.

That sounds like a bad thing, but its probably pretty impressive for a 15 year old.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Judging solely from the video, he does look like a good prospect, with his dribbling and pace. But he's got to improve his game intelligence to succeed in the Prem. He seems to spend too much time on the ball. That's well and fine in the Youth leagues, but the opposition will be a whole lot more aggressive in a senior match, and he'll be out muscled more than half the time if he tries some of his tricks. And I'm a bit worried about his lack of an end product (perhaps more due to the lack of quality around him than his own fault). There's no point beating your man when you can't get a decent cross into the box.

Again, that's my two cents from the video. Hopefully, we'll manage his development well.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Wow I'd heard about this kid but had never seen him play before. His playing style is so reminscent of Laurie Cunningham its unreal. I wonder how tall his Father is, not that his height is an issue but when his inevitable growth spurt arrives it may cause injury problems. With him and Suso, our future looks good. I'm genuinely excited about this kid.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

He does look good. Judging from that vid the biggest difference to our previous wing "wonderkids" imo is his close control. Anderson et al. looked good too but their game was more about running past players and that is usually not going to work against better defenders.

Definitely he has bags of tricks, can go both ways and pace too. He's like Walcott or Lennon with skill. The sky's the limit for him.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

If he has the end product of lennon and walcott then i'm sure the limit is significantly lower than the sky

Yep the end product will be a big question mark with Raheem too I think. Even in that clip there was only one goal and that was a deflection too. Early to judge though, especially on a basis of just one Youtube vid.

We've all seen young players who can tear up the wings or embarrass defenders with ease, but if you can't do the simple things like cross deadly balls or slot with ease then you always have to worry about their long term prospects

That's just a coaching thing and will come if he listens. The talent is undeniable and very special indeed.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Small, lightweight, black kid with little end product.

We might just have the new SWP on our hands.

Exciting!

Yeah, the KKK are really going to be inviting me to their White Christmas Party after that remark.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Id love a tricky winger like Sterling to make it with us. I love the feeling of expectancy when mercurial players get the ball, even if you are let down something special could happen!

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

From what I've seen he's little more than one of these half time kick up chaps. With a facebook "I've made it" page.

Not true, I'm afraid. Lennon and Walcott have had plenty of coaching... Game intelligence which is necessary for a good end product often cannot be taught. But to be honest, I think the former clip shows Sterling to have a lot of intelligence and perhaps he will develop into a complete player.

Danny Wilson and Martin Kelly, followed by Connor Coady and Andre Wisdom will be fucking fantastic. Good enough?

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

bloody good effort. 9/10.

point deducted for erroneous 'n' in your spelling of Conor Coady's name.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

Come on boys, live it up a little , let's look at a half full glass, this kid is only just sixteen yesterday , I really think he has the audacity to do it.

regards

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

We should try our best to steal Fransico Suarez (Isco) from Valencia. He is 17, a left winger, already plays for Spanish under 19 team and is touted to be better than Mata. He is also known to be a bit of a ball hog at this stage in his career. While we are at it we should perhaps get Josip Ilicic as well. He is 6'3, winger and is scoring goals for fun in Italy. He is probably made for the premiership. Lewis Holtby as well.

I think stocking up on great young wingers is probably the only way we will address our weakness in the squad where wingers are concerned.

We have zero wingers, and to buy two or three established wingers will cost upwards of 60 million in transfer fees alone and twice more than that if you include the wages.

I hope Sterling et all come good.

??? Why is it racism every time someone's colour is mentioned ? Squiggs' description is spot on - his style, size and colour does remind you of SWP - even though Sterling looks, at 16, to have a bigger bag of tricks. There's nothing wrong in stating the truth in a non-offensive way.

This kid looks fantastic, far far more than a half-time kid entertaining the crowd with ball tricks. How exciting would it be to have this lad at 18/19 coming on and creating havoc in defences like that. None of Lennon, Walcott or SWP having great finishing but I'd take any of them over Kuyt / Maxi on our wings !

I won't labour the point or ruin the thread with a protracted debate about his unfortunate and inappropriate comments. Suffice to say he looks nothing like SWP except maybe in height. I agree with you that he looks a fantastic prospect. Walcott, Lennon and SWP poor finishing or not, haven't done too badly have they? I reckon this kid could be better than them all.

Re: Raheeeeeeeeem

You're right, his colour has nothing to so with him looking like another player.

Incidentally, I'm now going to start describing myself as looking like emile heskey, as I'm shit at football and fat
