Strong team!!!

Interesting to see Daniel Carr.
McLaughlin is back.
Suso, Sterling, Shelvey on the pitch as well.

I think a few of us have said so before - our goalkeepers at the youth levels are pretty poor and unreliable. Unfortunately, proved the case again.

I still don't see why Sterling's playing in a game like this instead of having a proper rest, but he looks quite sharp. There are times when he bombs forward on the left, and rather than take a diagonal run inside he'll take a diagonal run outside, which is okay when he's got teammates racing up in support but when they're nowhere near him I wish he'd take the inside option and go for goal. It's not so much a question of being greedier, it's more a case of making the right judgement about what's the most positive option.

Frustrating for the trialist Carr, when he gets the ball he plays it nice and simple, spins off to receive it again and follows up shots sharply, and his movement looks decent, but he's barely getting any service at all and is relying on scraps.

One thing that's immediately clear about Carr, whenever the ball goes near the keeper he's right in his face, ready for the slightest chance. We don't really have any forwards lilke that, not even Morgan, so I hope he gets a few chances in this game.

Alonso-like attempt by Shelvey from inside his own half, spotting their keeper off the line. Quite close, too. Good vision.

Another side of Sterling - first he runs into the area and practically passes the ball to their keeper, then a few minutes later he gets into the area and passes blindly to a defender. The lad's still mentally tired and ought to be resting.

Yup, think the commentators picked up on that too. It's the same sort of attitude and nose for the ball that Sturridge showed which led to our goal at Old Trafford.

Oh nice - Bijev's work permit has arrived at last and he may get a chance today.

Suso can't be faulted for doing things to impress the watching manager - apart from great skill and judgement up the field he's also working hard in deeper positions trying to win the ball back.
