Brad Smith has surprised me, something happened after that leg injury. He's a different player now.
I remember watching him play in the u17 world cup with Sterling and my impression was that he was great going forward, a very attacking fullback, but he was terrible in defence. Not anymore.
He seems to have become a lot more mature and during that lay off and he's actually become very competent in defence.
I still reckon that Robinson is our best left fullback in the reserves (despite being on loan atm) but Smith is definitely closing in on him.

He's improving at a rate of knots alright. That said, his curve was pretty steep pre - injury (and it was a bad one).

I'd have him over Robinson right now. I really think this lad is going to be a star.

He does need to start growing that hair though if he's going to be out next bona-fide Craig Johnston.

Yeah, Brad Smith wasn't big on my radar before injury, but he has come back and looks phenomenal.

I remember reading a quote from Rodgers just about a week or two ago about sending Ilori out on loan after he's settled for about six months here. So we may not be selling a CB in January just yet unless Rodgers has changed his mind (won't be the first time). In the summer though, one of the current four will probably be sold, together with Coates.

As for Smith - really glad for him. I wish we'd somehow find a place for Teixeira as well though, even if it's just the FA Cup game against Oldham. He's 20 now and needs a platform to show what he can do at the next level.
If Rodgers was talking about loaning Ilori out a few weeks ago but now he is saying he will get a chance later in the season you have to wonder what changed?
