Great work Macca, much appriciated.

I'm starting to rate Ward. Great shotstopper and a talented young goalkeeper.

I've only seen him twice now, but I like Brannagan. Looks a great prospect. I love the way this team drives on, even at 3 0 up. Was the same against a good Sunderland team, even when we went down to ten men.

Rossiter (as ever), McLaughlin, Smith and Wisdom standing out for me tonight.

Great to see Smith come back from his long lay off looking to keep his keen upward curve going. McLaughlin combines pace and power with real maturity - he's just got it. Wisdom's a cool head at this level.

And Rossiter, what a prospect. He has that rare combination of genuine combativeness allied to defence-splitting passing ability. Brilliant prospect.

A mention for Cissokho, tired towards the end but looked a men amongst boys for most of the game. Can't wait to see him at LWB.

I forgot to mention him! He played with real attacking, ankle-biting intent. Reminded me of a young Beardsley at times.

I wonder why Ibe sits on the first team bench every game but then doesn't play all of these ones .

Chirivella was on the verge of joining Barcelona in 2001 after Valencia accepted a bid for him, but the player himself turned down the chance to join the Catalan giants.

So that would have made him 5 yrs old, bloody hell these Spanairds lock em up young.

Oops - thought I had gone to the last page when clicking in but in fact my replies above were to posts from months ago !

Anyway just read all the way through the thread to bring myself up to speed (and watch some clips now my VPN is up and running again).

Love the reports guys (esp. Macca).

Liverpool youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira has returned to Anfield following a disappointing loan spell at League One outfit Brentford.

The Portugal U20 international made just two substitute appearances for the Bees since his arrival at Griffin Park at the beginning of September.

Teixeira was due to remain in west London until January, but has returned to Merseyside after just one month in TW8.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster came off the bench to score for Liverpool U21s in their 5-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur's youngsters last night.

Brentford sporting director Mark Warburton said: “Joao has returned to Liverpool following the completion of his 28 day initial loan period.

“Such loans are always reliant on specific position availability and of course respective fixtures and unfortunately we were not able to give Joao the opportunity to demonstrate his obvious talent."

Apparently the Brentford sporting director Mark Warburton got Teixeira on the proviso that he'd play in a certain position on a regular basis, and then the manager Rosler resented the imposition and didn't play him. This is happening far too often these days. These clubs really need to get agreement internally before messing young loanees about.

Such a shame. You could see from yesterday's cameo and last season's games that the lad oozes talent, and could blossom like Suso seems to have, given the platform and time. He's probably not deemed to be ready for the step up yet or he wouldn't have been sent out on loan, so I suppose we'll be looking out for another club to allow him to get the minutes he needs.

Rosler is a dickhead anyway. Always has been.
Used to play for my local team. A lad I know who played for the u-18s but trained with first team nutmegged him a couple of times in the same training session. After the third one he punched his lights out. Great professional....

did he shout nuts as he was doing it?

He did celebrate which is probably why he punched him

There's nothing quite as annoying as young boys showboating at your expense, I think completely wiping them out is more appropriate than a punch though.

[article=http://www.faw.org.uk/news/FAW94577.ink]Following face to face meetings this afternoon between Wales Manager Chris Coleman and James Collins, the experienced West Ham defender has been called up into the Wales squad to face Macedonia and Belgium.

Collins took part in a full training session at the Vale of Glamorgan training complex this afternoon.

Liverpool youngster, 16 year old Harry Wilson, has also been added to the squad for the two FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. Harry recently excelled for the Wales Under 17 side in their matches against Hungary, Scotland and Slovenia. [/article]

On the other hand his dad bombed Old Trafford, so that earns him some credit.

Following the termination of Teixeira's loan spell to Brentford, we've also ended Ngoo's loan spell with Yeovil.

Most of his playtime at Yeovil came before late August - he got a couple of starts and a few sub appearances in that period. After late August though, he's been relegated to being an unused sub or late sub, playing about 20 minutes over 5 games.

Anyone know if this is a new arrangement we've set up these days where we withdraw players from loan if they don't get the minutes they need?

Academy striker Michael Ngoo has returned to the Reds' Kirkby training complex after his loan spell with Championship side Yeovil Town was ended by mutual agreement.

The 20-year-old signed for the Glovers on a season-long loan transfer in July but is now back at the Academy and working with Alex Inglethorpe's U21s squad.
Ngoo made a total of seven appearances for Yeovil during his stay with Gary Johnson's team, including two starts.

The England youth international has been with the Reds since joining from Southend United in September 2009.

i sometimes get the feeling a few of these young lads are happy enough to stay in the reserves/U21s. They've got the comfort of our facilities and everything else that being at liverpool entails . By 20 or so they need to be thinking hard about what they are going to do , bust a gut to go on loan and prove themselves if they're not going to be around the 1st team . In fairness i can imagine it's not easy to drop down to a smaller club or face the reality that they might be coming to an end of their time here but it surprises me they don't seem to get better advice .

I reckon Teixeira would be more likely to get minutes at a ball-playing, higher-level side. He might have to go the Spanish route (like Suso) to get that.

It's informal but I gather most big clubs are doing it these days. There was some manager a week or so ago explaining why a player he had on loan from the mancs had to be sent back because he couldn't play him in every game.

Uwe Rosler will not replace Jaoa Teixeira after the Liverpool protege had his Griffin Park loan spell cut short this week.

Despite having cost the Reds around £1million and earning rave reviews as one for the future at Anfield, the Portuguese youngster only played 20 minutes in his month at Brentford.

Bees boss Rosler insists Teixeira's talents were unsuited for the battle his side have found themselves in, but is happy with his compliment of midfielders at the moment, despite still not having properly replaced Conor McAleny.

He said: “We have enough midfield players, so we won't be looking to replace Jaoa. We will concentrate on the players we have here already.

The timing of Jaoa coming here was probably a little bit unfortunate, our game is not flowing like it was in pre-season. It will come again, but at the moment we're in a bit of a battle.

“To bring a player like him in at this stage, it is difficult for him to show his potential, and we didn't want him to get frustrated. He's a fantastic player, it's not abut his quality.

“Players have to play when they come in (from clubs like Liverpool), and we couldn't guarantee him as much game time as he and Liverpool would have liked.”

That must be a bit awkward for the player, going to another club but still having your employer club dictating how often you should be playing and where. It's hardly going to endear you to your new teammates or supporters is it?

Good point, but I think that wouldn't normally be an issue. That kind of agreement is not announced, so I suppose the idea is that they get a few games to prove themselves, and if they do well enough they stay in on merit anyway and if the manager doesn't think they do well enough, or just doesn't fit, they go home. So the basic change is that loanees don't languish on the bench for months on end - the big clubs now say, 'Look, if you want him, play him'. That seems fair enough.

You have zero knowledge of any advice they have been given .. or not. For all we know (and TBH it's what I expect) the club will have sat down and discussed their future in detail, with both the player and his family, before he agrees to a loan or sale.
