System and style wise, is there similarity between Neil Critchley's Under 18s and Alex Inglethorpe's reserves team?

2-0 HT.

Good performance today against a decent Southampton side.

Plenty of good players out there -

Brannagan - this lad really is getting better and better at a rapid pace. Tough but talented, he wins the ball and plays it really sensibly and cleverly.

Chirivella: He looks a classy player. A holding midfielder who thinks positively.

Ryan Kent - pacy, strong, positive, always keen to go past players.

Harry Wilson - confidence is sky high after his Welsh debut, maybe a bit over-confident at the moment, but he scored another goal and played pretty well for much of the half.

Jerome Sinclair - back from injury and looking good. I've always liked him and thought he got a bit unfairly under-appreciated once Ibe arrived, as he unselfishly created acres of space for Ibe to exploit, but he's a classy-looking player who could well progress to the first team squad.

Trickett-Smith - another one I've liked for quite a while. He started as a creative midfielder but showed such an eye for goal they've tried him further up and even a couple of times as centre forward. The goal he scored today was very mature.

Yes, very much so. Obviously with someone like Teixeira there's a bit more guile in midfield with Inglethorpe's team, but in terms of shape and patterns of play there's a strong connection there.

Cheers mate, good to know. Is the goalie Crump new to the starting XI? Haven't really heard of him.

No, he's been in and out for a season or so now. Not bad, actually, though I think Fulton is better at present (Fulton's unusually vocal for his age and organises the defence very well).

2-1. Southampton get one back. LFC have been a bit sloppy in this second half and Southampton have exploited that.

2-2. Ironically we'd been playing better for a while and then Southampton grab an equaliser on the counter-attack.

Brannagan off - my MOTM - and another holding midfielder Nathan Burke comes on. Chirivella pushed further up the field.

3-3. Awful mistake reminiscent of recent senior cock-ups - the defenders kept passing to each other, then gave it back to Crump with defenders charging into him, and he passed it out to a Southampton player for an easy goal.

FT 3-3.

Very good first half, then we returned for the second looking strangely sloppy and alowed Southampton back into the game. Still would have won it if it hadn't been for a nightmare of mistake on 90 minutes.

Plenty of good performances, but Brannagan was outstanding for me.

Ressies match tonight:

Ward Kelly Jones Ilori Smith Rodden Rossiter Brannagan Texeira Ibe Ngoo.

Subs: Merson Lussey Rafa Dunn Sinclair McLaughlin.

Middlesborough v LFC ressies.

Ngo'o is so difficult to play again - pretty quick, very physical. He can surely play a part somewhere down the line in the premier league

Teixeria with an easy finish after an excellent move from Ibe ... beats the fullback easily, and lays it on a plate for Teixeria.

2-0

Rossiter with the 3rd - good cross from Brad Smith, knocked back across the goal by Ibe and tapped in by Rossiter.

3-0

HT. Very good, assured first half performance. Three goals, lots of decent attacking play. People will be bored to hear it but yet again Rossiter just oozes class in everything he does.
