We fuck up every year and it's never Rafa's fault, there is always something or someone else to blame.
He came with a five year plan....five years ago, and we are going backwards.
Yes all of a sudden half the team is missing, but the depth of the squad is almost entirely Benitez fault, the in-game decision making is entirely Benitez fault.
That said I don't think who is to blame is the main issue at the moment, it is how to get out of this mess that is the priority. We need to forget about everything, apart from a top four finish, which at this current moment in time is looking like a big ask.
Regardless of who is in charge in the January window we have to snap up two or three decent players regardless of the cost, as the potential cost of not qualifying next year is disastrous.
Those of us with even half a brain knew in the summer we were well short up front, to the point of downright negligence, which has been proved utterly correct. The prospect of two from N'gog , Kuyt Voronin and Babel when Torres was missing filled me with dread, so why the fuck did it not fill Rafa and everyone else in a position of influence with the same feelings.

He didn't come with a '5 year plan'. In fact being the pragmatist he is, when he was appointed in charge of Liverpool he distance himself from the notion entirely.
Agree with the rest, though. I think we've been desperately unlucky this season, but the reason it's cost us to such a high degree is largely the decisions of Benitez.

Are you sure? If so he didn't do a very good job of that either, he's fooled me and loads of other people that he did have a five year plan.

technically the culmanation of the the five year plan (last season) saw us miss out on the eventual champions by four points. we wanted rafa to make us capable of challenging and we challenged and people can't even use the excuse we were overly reliant on gerrard and torres because they were missing for parts of the season.

Right, there was a five year plan and the culmination of this was to come second behind United and win fuck-all ? That was worth waiting for - not
All we can hope for is that this weakens the Americans bargaining position and someone with pots of money comes in to bale us out of this whirlpool we are heading for - with or without Rafa, I suspect if it does happen it will be the latter.
I am with Rafa 4 pm on this I think things are coming to a head as regards the Yanks not being able to sit on their hands and do nothing
