We won't get Joe Cole, unfortunately.

No they won't sell to us.
if tottenhem bid for him and we match their price then if he wants to play champs league football then he could put his foot down and insist on coming to us.

When was the last time he kicked a football ?
Last year was a write-off, but prior to that he had an ok injury record, if he is fit (hopedully a mecial can sort that out) then he would be ideal.

even if it is a issue, he would be definitely worth the risk
at what price ?
If injury proness was a risk I would be willing to pay 12-15m if it was not a issue I think a price of 18-20m in the current climate would be value for money

Given his injury record and the fact that Chelsea already had Mlaouda and then went and signed Zhirkov this summer, offering any more than 10m would be silly.

if we can get him for that much great, but if we are going to be in for a shout then we may have to pay a premium as he is (a) english and (b) we are their rivals. The odds of it happening are not good, but if there is a chance then we should be in there.

He only has 1 year left on his contract Ross. If Chelsea get 10M more for him, they'd be doing pretty well.

If Chelsea wants to sell him, and Spurs gets a 10m fee agreed. Then of course we would have a shot at getting him.
Although he has always spoken warmly about us, he might opt to stay in London. Getting him would be fantastic though. Excellent player.

i get the impression he's a london boy. but if he wants 4 years of champions league or just mid table spurs is upto him.

worth a gamble but all i'd do is at best match spurs' offer only if its c10 million and see if cole has the desire.

I believe he did have an informal meeting with Ged years ago and was a guest at a couple of games. Personally I've always found the peanut-headed poltroon to be a major irritant, but he'd be a useful addition, I admit.

Ditto.

Quality player, but I think much of the talk about him is more about being depressed with Alonso's likely exit than a real liking for Cole.

If we are bringing in Aquilani, I don't think we can afford to take more risks on injury-prone players.

Truth is, no one player is going to lessen the impact of Xabi's leaving.

Xabi's famous 'shot from his own half' was actually symbolic of how deep-lying he tended to be. If we do now get a more attacking midfielder who scores more goals it won't necessarily be a big problem. We need to wait and see.
