There is absolutely nothing wrong with Liverpool being owned by another American company, if those Americans understand such a unique business and provide the right sort of leadership for it.
And right now, where the current situation is becoming unhealthy for everyone and perhaps even for the long term future of the club, positive leadership is required more than ever.
What John Henry and Tom Werner must ask themselves right now, is what would the previous regime have done? Then they should do exactly the opposite.
Hicks and Gillett would have let this situation drift, would have let the rumour and innuendo rise to intolerable levels until it damaged the very fabric of the club. That must not be allowed to happen, and the first step must be to put a Chief Executive in place immediately to provide direction at a crucial time.
