WWIII Return of the Ruskie

I don't follow politics all that much , are they genuinely far right or are they anti EU federalism and labelled as far right ?
I think the likes of Orban in Hungary are quite far to the right. The Tories are pretty right wing these days and they've been getting all sorts of donations from the Russians.

Also, I think they're anti EU federalism because this helps the Russians. Just like those champions of Brexit Farage and Banks have been going on about how this is NATO's fault and not Russia's.

Putin is actually moving in. He knows the west won't go to direct conflict, but will it work with regards to controlling Ukraine?

Orban's an interesting case. A while ago my favourite coffee place in town was run by a Hungarian lady who told me once she's no fan of the guy but takes the view that he's been demonised by the EU and its supporters trying to discredit a stubborn opponent, and that the smear campaign has actually pushed him further right.

Yeah I don't know enough here, Orban is Eurosceptic so to me just gets labelled as far right.

Are you saying the EU expansion into the east hasn't played a part in this conflict ?

There's plenty of blame on both sides.

The idea that a Hungarian leader would want to help Russia doesn't fly, mate, not with the history between the two countries. Nor is it a coincidence that Russia's aggression towards Ukraine ramped up BIG time after the Ukraine's previous Russia-aligned but - a crucial point, this - democratically elected government was overthrown in 2014 and Western representatives were out in the streets celebrating that. The responsibility for what's happening is Putin's, no question at all, but the West has absolutely made its own mistakes and handed him excuses on a plate.

So countries aren't allowed to join the EU in case it annoys the Russians?

Go back to where the EU began Athens, and what the founders of the EU had in mind as their long term goal.

Countries can take whatever choices they want buy I would fully expect pushback from someone in the world if that agenda keeps getting pushed.

"Once again "

The FBI have largely unravelled that claim and they've found that a Democrat lawyer provided the information that led to the investigation that found nothing. Also that Hilary Clinton hired hackers to find Trump & Russia links and she didn't come up with anything.

But seriously, I think Putin deserves to be cancelled. He's incited far more violence than Trump. Twitter and Facebook need to step in and suspend his accounts. Permanently

That could be what today's meeting is about

The slightly worrying and tragic thing here is that State powers have been eroded very significantly through the various EU Treaties and international trade agreements.

So any State that takes action against Russian individuals are going to be completely hamstrung by the judiciary.

"Russian troops invaded Ukraine, a free and sovereign country. Once again in the centre of Europe, innocent women, men and children are dying or fear for their lives. We condemn this barbaric attack and the cynical arguments to justify it."

The head of the EU Commission seems to think or want everyone else to think that the Ukraine is in Europe.

That and apart from his anti immigration policies back in 2015 and anti semite/anti roman sentiments, maybe he’s only like that at weekends.

Ukraine isn't in Europe?

Did they mention the EU, or just Europe? Because in that quote it just says Europe.

How many painkillers have you taken today?

Define painkillers.

I don't see this as an attack in Europe. It's an attack on the Ukraine.

Except that he's on record as condemning anti-Semitism and it's not 6 months since the Pope was in Hungary on a state visit.
