I hope you and your family stay safe @rurikbird
Except that he's on record as condemning anti-Semitism and it's not 6 months since the Pope was in Hungary on a state visit.
You want them to redraw a map and put Ukraine in Asia? It's not an EU member state.
Echo this statement. Hope your family stay safe @rurikbirdI hope you and your family stay safe @rurikbird
Except isn’t he also one of the chief peddlers of the Soro’s conspiracy? The foundations of that is anti semitism especially to those who it’s pushed. Not sure what he’s done in the past 6 months but can’t ignore what he’s been about since 2015.
Total tunnel vision nonsense...The above bit about Soros is just flat wrong. Soros, a totally non-religious guy who happens to be of Jewish ancestry, has openly admitted betraying fellow Jews for financial gain in the past and seeing nothing wrong with it. The idea that being against him equates with anti-Semitism is pure moonshine.
Orban's remarks about anti-Semitism were made at the annual meeting of the World Jewish Congress which took place in Budapest that year. The idea that it would have been held in a country whose head of state is anti-Semitic is similarly off-the-scale nonsense.
Total tunnel vision nonsense...
1) Not really, if you want to ignore the sentiment and who his audience this is played out. Orban knows what he's doing when he's pushing these out publicly.
Also I fundamentally disagree with your post above Soro's own religious identity.
In his 1991 book, Soros wrote: “My Jewishness did not express itself in a sense of tribal loyalty that would have led me to support Israel. On the contrary, I took pride in being in the minority, an outsider who was capable of seeing the other point of view.” His philanthropic support has therefore not focused on Jewish people specifically or on Israel, and in fact has often gone to groups, like Human Rights Watch, that are critical of Israel’s human rights record and treatment of Palestinians.
But that isn’t to say Soros is somehow not Jewish. “I was facing extermination at the age of 14 because I was Jewish,” as he once put it. “Wouldn’t that make an impression on you?” Soros has referred over the years to his “Jewishness” and spoken about what his Jewish identity means to him. If he considers being Jewish to be a matter of ancestry and culture, and not of religion, then he has that in common with 62 percent of Jewish Americans, according to a 2013 Pew study.
Orban’s cultural commissioner Szilard Demeter also compared Soros to Hitler, calling him a “liberal Fuhrer” who viewed Europe as “his gas chamber”. He also likened Poland and Hungary to “the new Jews”.
2) He also described the migrant influx into Europe was described by Orban as “a poison” and “Muslim invaders”.
3)In 2015, Hungary built a border barrier on its border with Serbia and Croatia.
The 4m-high, 109 mile-long fence aimed at preventing migrants entering the country.
Soldiers were sent to block the route from Serbia and sealed the border with razor wire. Refugees and migrants were detained and targeted with water cannon and tear gas.
Orban later declared a state of emergency and deployed 1,500 soldiers to Hungary’s borders in March 2016.
4) Attacks on freedom of speech
The station Klubradio, whose news and talk content is often critical of the Hungarian government, lost its license to broadcast, with the country’s media regulator saying it had “repeatedly infringed” the rules.
Its frequency was awarded to Spirit FM, whose owner is supportive of Orban.
Maybe we need a chart to define what's considered far right and what's just plain old harmless conservatism. I know how I see it.
I think we do.
By these measures Biden could be considered far right too.
So Abramovich will not be allowed to live in the UK....
Oooooh that'll learn Putin.
Can I have his cup final ticket?
"Russian troops invaded Ukraine, a free and sovereign country. Once again in the centre of Europe, innocent women, men and children are dying or fear for their lives. We condemn this barbaric attack and the cynical arguments to justify it."
The head of the EU Commission seems to think or want everyone else to think that the Ukraine is in Europe.
*shocked*
