Was a disgraceful cynical challenge. Shows the ridiculousness of Suarez's punishment in comparison to this which has robbed the tournament of one of its best players, and robbed him of possibly the defining moment of his career.
At 22, he's carried this bog standard Brazilian team through the tournament. I feel really sorry for him.
The ref was a joke last night. The fact he booked Rodriguez for a mistimed tackle that he tried to pull out of, whilst Fernandinho got away with kicking him all over the pitch, said it all.

Belgium should play more direct, Hazard/De Bruyne have been largely ineffective, keep the oak tree up there alongside Lukaku and gerrit in the mixer!

Belgium have been terrible to watch this game. All that skillz and talent on the pitch, but they're playing like Allardyce's West Ham or Bolton. I reckon Marc Wilmots thinks the Argies can't handle Fellaini's aerial ability but they're really overdoing it and turning this into a Moyes' Man U versus Fulham crossathon. Hazard has been quiet, but he's one of the guys who could pull out a trick to save the team. So the right move is obviously to pull him and bring in Chadli and hope the ball hits his face and goes in.

The human bog brush hasn't been up there enough, hes been ambling around in the middle of the pitch most of the time, when Hazard, Mirallas and De Bruyne arn't solving the problem then they should look to mix it up more and go direct, they are well suited to it, its only really in the last 6/7 minutes they are going long and causing them a few problems.
Call the ambulance, the Argentinian guy is giving birth in the middle of the pitch.

All their creative players have created fuck all, Origi barely touched the ball in the first half.

It's a bit surprising Hazard hasn't impressed, he was fantastic in spells in the league. Hopefully that keeps the Origi interest and price down if he's a target.

And their best chance comes from playing the ball on the floor, with a nice sliding pass from Mertens to Lukaku. Who would've thought that could be an option for a team with skilful players. Weird.
Anyway, all our players who went to Brazil are now probably able to join the pre-season training / tour just 2 weeks later than the rest I suppose. That's great!

It was all a bit toothless from Belgium which is a surprise with those attacking players, Origi won't be getting rave reviews for this game, he was feeding on scraps though, can't remember the Argy goalkeeper having to make a proper save in the whole match.
thats a real shame for that squad, fingers will surely point at the manager

Belgium got to the QF without really playing well , argentina are in the semi without really playing well. An average brazil team (or am i doing them an injustice? ) are in the semis . Is the quality of this world cup that high ? i don't mean excitement level , i mean the overall standard . I don't think there has been one team all tournament where you've thought they really look the business or don't have weaknesses .
