Algeria 1 - 0! Only started paying attention to the Belgium-Algeria game in the last 10 to 15 minutes or so. Algeria has been impressive; solid and well-organized at the back and packing plenty of pace up front. Vertonghen with a stupid and avoidable foul to concede a penalty.
Belgium look ordinary so far.
I went for Belgian TV and they are not impressed
Not surprised, Algeria are doing a good job of smothering them tbf.

quite interesting watching belgium here considering the hype . They obviously have some very decent players but at the same time a few of them are the type that can have complete wank performances , the spurs lads being prime examples .
Speaking of which that Chadli lad keeps giving frees away but not the normal defensive tackling type , he keeps trying to barge through them or overruns it then knocks a defender over . It's useless .
Also they are already having a go at each other when things aren't coming off .

I thought Belgium was supposed to walk this group?
I've never rated Chadli from the first time I saw him play. Can do well when he cuts inside from the left onto his right foot though.
I do wonder just how much the heat/humidity is affecting many of the Northern European teams.
Not that that should be a problem here - just checked and in Belo Horizonte it's 26C and 44% humidity (damn low) at this moment.

They were by many. I wasn't one of them. European teams can often struggle in S.America and, while Belgium's squad looks impressive, I for one didn't see them coasting through.
I don't like him much. Too whingey and divey.

He might if he stays there, but will he stay? Admittedly it's only paper talk at the moment, but I've seen a couple of reports saying van Gaal doesn't rate him and wants him sold. I do think he'll do someone a decent job, but he may have to move to get his chance.
