Winter Rumors Thread

It will probably cost Everton more than 8 million to replace his goals though.

Selling Dirk for 1 million was bonkers.

Yeah, 1 mill was insane. He had a release clause in his contract didnt he? Which begs the question how the hell did we allow that in the first place.

Naismith is a good player and well worth the £8m, he's always reminded me alot of Dirka. I'd have taken him at the time we signed quite a few of our overpriced shite players that Rafa and Rodgers have subjected us to, because at least you know you'd have got a few goals out of him and 100% every week.

Nah, I dont agree about the fee being well worth it. They're probably overpaying with 3-4 mill.
I wouldnt mind Norwich staying up so lets see how many goals he gets.

I read that they are also very close to signing Ivo Pinto for 2,2 mill. Very good right back playing for Dynamo Zagreb. Thats a good signing. 25 years old and close to being called up to the Portugese national team.

Taksport reporting Alexander Pato is available for 10-15m; agent reportedly distributing DVD

Their S.American correspondent was saying the other day that Pato's over his injury problems, and that that fee (a) is in euros and (b) could well be negotiated down from that figure anyway because his club are desperate to reduce their wage bill. If he's right, this could be worth a look.

I know that the last thing we need is another injury prone player but Pato is one of those extremely talented players that we'd never have had a chance of getting a few years back.
Circumstances have brought his price right down and id love it if we could get him.
He seems very motivated to play well in Europe right now so it might really work out for both parties.

If he does well, I imagine the 'option' would become worthless to us.
If we decide to go for him we should be all over the knockdown price.

Liverpool are now front runners to sign West Brom's Saido Berahino and they also want Juventus defender Martin Caceres (Telegraph)

Caceres I could believe? But Berahino? after the clash between those two? I guess if it's spurs or us, we may have an edge! 🙂

Saido would be a good fit. Mobile and a good finisher.

Seems like one of those flash in the pan players that are extremely moody and are after their first big pay check. I hope not.

I would say the same for Pato.

Good player but his attitude would worry me. If he can effectively go on strike at one club he could do the same at another.

Unless Klopp has already written of Benteke (unlikely) or Sturridge (just as unlikely) I cannot see us buying a striker on a long term deal this January

Pato's had plenty of big paychecks.

From Wiki

While Jádson moved to Corinthians permanently, Pato transferred to Tricolor until December 2015, during which time half of his salary (R$ 400,000) will continue to be paid by Corinthians. If Pato receives a proposal in June or July, when the transfer window re-opens in Europe, he can be negotiated to cover Corinthians investment of €15 million.[15]

No idea how much that is but I'm sure he will want his BIG bump by moving to the BPL.

I was simply arguing that a move to europe wouldn't be to get his 'first big pay cheque', considering what he earns, and have earned at Milan. Basically that he's completely incomparable to Berahino.

Lazy bugger. That's ca. GBP 685k. In other words sod all compared to virtually any PL player.

I tend to agree and we have still got Ings
Any fule know dat we have a real problem in central midfield they don't contribute going forward nor do they help the back four - Hendo is OK but Can, Lucas and Allen ain't up to it -

Klopp going by the past likes to buy players he can develop, and I think he thinks he has lots of rough diamonds. I think its a frustration for him that there is no winter break as he could have used that time engage with players (1st teamers and reserves) and develop them. Grujic is his first buy, I am not too impressed by his Youtube clips but because Klopp wants him you know something special could be the end product in 6-12 months.

I'm still not even convinced by Henderson , hes far too inconsistent for my liking.

I think he's good enough and influences things positively, we really missed him when he wasn't there - I don't think he's really captain material, or irreplaceable

Easy to forget that Hendo is still only 25 and has been captain for 6 months.
He's got all the qualities to be a very good captain but it will take time.

He's a bit undervalued among us fans and we miss him when he's out of the team.
We're much better with him starting and the quality of the others bar Can isnt good enough.

We would probably have won the league if he hadnt been sent off against City.
