Winter (break) Is Coming...

Is it just me that thinks February is a bit late?

I definitely don't want it in December cos boxing day games are amongst my favourite fixtures. The first couple of weeks in January would surely make more sense?

Why dont they just bin off that Caribou Cup or whatever its called now. Nobody takes it seriously until the final and its adds unnecessary fixtures.

February is a bit late, but January is miserable enough never mind how it would be without some football to watch.

They definitely need to swap Jan and Feb around so that Jan is the shortest month and you don't have to wait so long to get paid after spending all your money over the Christmas hols.

But what does it mean? Two weekends with no games? It will just feel like an extra long International break surely?

Whenever it happens we'll end up playing a tournament in the far east anyways. There will be no real break

Not read any real articles about this yet, but the stuff I read when it was being discussed a while ago all said it was being done under the proviso that clubs wouldn't be allowed to take part in any activities like that at all.

How long it lasts, if they haven't had it removed already, is another matter.

At long last..."Mid-Season Player Break" in February from 2019/20. 5 PL games one weekend, 5 the next. FA Cup fifth round now midweek, no replays. Compromise but significant step after 20 years' campaigning. Most elite managers/sports scientists always agreed on its importance.

Apparently (haven't seen this confirmed), all exhibitions, friendlies etc are banned during the break.

I’d have inserted the break after the FA Cup 3rd round games scrapping replays.

Yeah, mid two weeks in january, it’s fucking depressing anyway and can’t get any worse

That's the real danger. I guess having a manager who's used to a break will help. But TV will find a way to louse up the positives.

No extra time appaz in the League cup either if its a draw after 90 mins. Straight to pens

I hate pens. Maybe they should say if it's nil-nil after 90 mins, neither side should go through. Then we'd get the whole tournament over in much less time. You could jump past whole rounds if there weren't enough teams left.
