Will.I.An

This guy has been mentioned by a few as our backup to Willian, he's a striker though isn't he? We badly need someone on the left.
No idea if im honest mate.
I think hes a forward, I know a few have been after him for a while.

Well done to them for the way they're selling Bale. No drama and getting their replacements in beforehand, avoiding any inflated fees.

Don't really care about Willian, the fee and his nationality were the only things getting me excited but losing out to Tottenham isn't a nice thought.

They're at risk of being held hostage by Madrid now though, thats the problem. I really hope Madrid offer £40million on deadline day, Spurs are not in a position to refuse. I really hope that club goes Leeds. Even with the Bale sale, how the fuck can they afford the wages?

For 30 mil let's get munian and eriksen

Or sahko and eriksen

Or sakho and munian

Or illori and ANY CUNT

JUST FUCKING BUY SOMEONE

if we really pushed the boat out for him and he chooses spurs over us then we need to ask a few questions . Can Rodgers attract players of that quality ? Are the club offering enough in wages ? how do we go about getting the players needed to get into the top 4 ?

I suspect the majority of you will say fuck him , he's overpriced anyway and you may be right but if the manager really wanted him and it came down to him choosing spurs over us then we need to address why.

Address why? What do you mean 'address why'?

Spurs are a better team than us and are playing in Europe and have an excellent chance of being in the CL for the next few years.

That's *WHY*

I tell you who I really liked at the Confed Cup. Candreva from Lazio.
Anyone seen much of him for Lazio? Roopy?
I thought he was excellent in each game I saw him in. Him and Insigne.

I think this has/had a high chance of being a shit transfer so can't say I'm very upset if he goes to Spurs.

Someone mentioned Fischer from Ajax before, he could be an inspired choice if we could get him. Personally I'd see him as less of a gamble than Willian, even at £30m.

Lamela looks awesome but I doubt he'd be possible.

Luis Muriel might still be an option, he looks a better bet than Willian to me.

I agree with Oncey, there are loads of more attractive options.

As for us being less attractive than Spurs, I couldn't care less cos that's been obvious to anyone with a brain for fucking ages. No point crying about it.

Candreva was linked to the mancs for 25m earlier in the window ,and I'm fairly sure he's 27ish?

Doesn't qualifying for the cl group stages next season net an extra 20m or something daft like that?!

If so spurs can recoup much of their cash that way.

Well thats bloody depressing. Surely with that money we should go all out for lamela instead. We've nothing to lose and he definitely has more end product.

Those wages though, Willian, Paulinho and Soldado will probably be on at least £250k between them, Bale isn't on half of that.

Its got a touch of my FIFA dealings about it this one.
Usually at the transfer deadline day in FIFA I have recouped about 30 to 40m, and I bid on a fuckload of class players then whichever ones agree I agree personal terms with and then in the last hour I decide who im signing and fuck the rest off.
Feels a bit like that.
🙂

Right. It's a bit of downer, and things might look grim.

But there's still time till the window closes, and plenty of fish out in the ocean for less the purported £30m. Before we go on suicide watch.

Wasn't this answered credibly in that other thread?

It looks like they're spending a bit extra to try and make the final leap to a secure CL club. Wages are also presumably covered by that.

Bale will go for £85m or so, after which they'll be in -£20-30m net spend territory (fees only)

They're owned by Joe Lewis. This is not a Leeds situation. If the worst happens and they suffer losses they can easily be absorbed.

It's not really that complicated.

And we kept Luis Suarez. One of the best 4 or 5 players in the world right now.
Badly want to sign a boswinger though. Not Jose obv.

@dimarzio: Gareth #Bale very close to @realmadrid: deal with @SpursOfficial for 93€. And #Coentrao probably will join spurs. #footballtransfers

This is why they're spending plenty of money

Binny posted a wages' graphic up on here the other day, roughly LFC were paying 119m last season and Spurs 91m if I remember correctly.
