Imagine if thats true. Fucking 20m Coentrao plus Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli, Willian and Capoue for Gareth Bale.
 
If he has chosen Spurs over us, play Skrtel at right back when we play them and instruct him to cut him in half.

But are they really that much better than us ? has 1 season of champs league football and a few 5ths elevated them so far ahead of us ?

And if so what are we doing about it ? they were the 5th place team and if they get willian have spent nearly 90m this window. Even if they sell bale they're still doing something big to break into the top 4 . What the fuck are we doing ? why did we spend 25m on a keeper and two spanish squad players ? Do we really think that's enough to get us in there ?

and if we have money but players are turning us down do we have any plans to try and prevent that ? . I mean as shit as it is we may need to offer more in wages . I just can't believe this is simply because spurs are now a "bigger" club than us . If they are we might aswell just give up .

Someone mentioned Fischer from Ajax before, he could be an inspired choice if we could get him. Personally I'd see him as less of a gamble than Willian, even at £30m.

Luis Muriel might still be an option, he looks a better bet than Willian to me.


I agree with Oncey, there are loads of more attractive options.

Can't say his youtube impressed me either, but both city and chelski have bid for him in the past and now us and spurs have as well. There has to be something about him which all 4 clubs thought was worth the money. And now that something is going to spurs, and whats worse is showing how weak our pulling power is to get top players.

I don't know what you want me to say. The fact they're pushing the boat out and we're not is a major part of the reason I gave. That they can say 'we've signed bla bla bla' is a big part of why they can keep attracting yet more and look like a better prospect for ambitious players.

I'm not saying it wouldn't pay off if FSG did the same, but I think it's pretty obvious that they can't or won't.

We and Spurs are just about equal in the eyes of outsiders. The swing vote in Willian choosing them over us is probably his close relationship with AVB. I don't think our club's lack of savvy in transfer dealings comes into this that much here.

Apparently it wasn't a case of Willian choosing Spurs over us, more so that we didn't match Anzhi's price, and then Spurs came in a big £1million over the top of that price to beat us off. Apparently we were dicking around with sell on fee's.

AVB has reportedly been chasing Willian since his Chelsea days, and he made an attempt in the last window for Spurs. Apparently they're text-messaging buddies.
