Why are English supporters the most pitiful in world football?

The comments section is interesting in the mirror, a Russian fan took the time to post..
Russian fans were right to beat the English. Before you beat that happened in the city of broken bottles, screaming crowd of passers-bullied. You have behaved arrogantly and defiantly and so every UEFA EURO 2016, 2012, 2008 ....

Russian fans have shown strength, and now here you are whining like women. Do not hide under the skirts of women and children.

Maybe for a start it was necessary to culture behave?

I'm sorry I do not speak English, just trying to convey the meaning of words.

P.S.
In Russia you can always come, we are hospitable people, but the upstart and screamers do not like.

I hope you do not think that the British fans are white and fluffy? 🙂

But I do not support a crime !!!

Yeah, that Tweet deffo sounds like a proper English Ultra, especially the one that said "if some kind of object doesn't hit me on the head tomorrow I'll be gutted"

So that's certainly funny, but a hooligan asking for trouble? Nah.

That Russian comment is obviously missing a lot in translation, but mirrors an article in the guardian pointing out that although it doesn't seem like England fans are starting fights, the way the fans have behaved basically amounts to congregating on masse in every large public area that isn't a designated fan zone, draping flags over every bar & shop, urinating in the doorways, & singing songs about beating the Germans in the war, the French being cowards & some more tasteless bigoted stuff, is basically asking for trouble.

Its hard to disagree with much of that analysis, & the icing on the cake is of course the fact that every time the police turn up they start trying to fight with them.

The flip side is of course that the Russians have obviously prepared for this in advance so the behaviour is irrelevant, but you have to imagine if they were being a bit more reasonable then the press wouldn't be so quick to turn on them & wouldn't have so many images of England fans trying to attack French police to use to disparage them.

Ah thats a shame.
I thought Ryan might come in, accept he really jumped the gun and if not apologise perhaps water down his rhetoric.

Its a pity to see that level of xenophobia.
Anyway. Im not coming back to this thread.

Every media channel in the world identifies the English as the victims this last week and yet our neighbours call us an embarrasment.

I think Portly and JJ have called it very well.

They haven't, they've buried their heads in the sand - like you have.

The supporters of your country are plastered over every media outlet around for ongoing bouts of vandalism, hooliganism, and racism. You've destroyed property, fought police, racially abused plenty, put people in hospital, and brought a city to a standstill. And you're hoping I apologise?

What's wrong with you?

Yeah, like I'm dead fucking sorry.

(Oh, and I couldn't give an arse about the Ireland/Sweden shit after it by the way, in case you think I'm drawing a comparison).

It's very disturbing for me and I can't quite understand why this has been happening across Eastern Europe. We Eastern Europeans were all brought up on the idea of defeating fascism, which was always presented as the absolute evil. And yet in all these countries – Poland, Russia, my own Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, even Greece – neo-Nazi symbolism has taken over large segments of the football fandom. Some fans actually celebrate Hitler's birthday now...

To be fair, the anti-fascist sentiment you describe had a lot to do with the Russian/Serb influence after the war in the bolded countries. Hardly surprising that independence and eruption of nationalism coincided with morons resorting to pure Nazi-style hate. The Enemy of my enemies and all...

Balls, mate. You're better than this normally, but all you're doing here is indulging the bigotry Portly rightly called you out on and trying, unsuccessfully, to cloak it in a guise of bogus "objectivity". Every actual media outlet, rather than those your overheated imagination has hornswoggled you into "seeing", is placing the blame where it belongs, namely on the Russian ultras and some locals as well as the English morons, because those outlets have people there seeing what's actually happening instead of pandering to your personal prejudices.

"You've". Has he really? You're really not quitting with this sweeping attack on us, are you?

This really is try-hard bigoted junk and EVERYONE has called you out for it.

Imagine if we called "you" a pub bomber or something.

Err so you down under are immune from a drinking / fighting culture and everyone sits around in coffee shops comparing ristrettos? It must be so nice looking down on the world from your ivory tower. If you opened your eyes and visited any Aussie city on any saturday night you would see exactly the same anti social behaviour drunkedness and fighting, ffs there was fighting at the fucking TENNIS earlier this year.

Is fighting at the tennis less acceptable than fighting at the football?

Oh dear.

Yeah but he's not saying the pub bombers aren't so bad.

Neither are we though Woland. There's a minority of dickheads, just like we've seen carnage elsewhere from other nationalities. Ryan's taken it upon himself to repeatedly label "us" an embarrassment. I don't think anyone has defended the morons, have they? Some people have said that there are conflicting news reports, Ryan has said we're in headed company alongside racist Turkish ultras.

But they are dickheads and they do deserve singling out. They were there on Thursday causing shit and generally being an embarrassment two days before and right up until the Russians turned up. People moaning that no Russians got nicked... well they managed to distil their shit into a couple of ten minutes bursts, the English were chucking bottles for ages.

Fair enough if you're not defending them, but it does all seem a bit defensive in here.

Ryan is a Brit so I'm surprised by his comments.

And on the whole it does seem like the English are the target this time around. But i suppose that should have been anticipated given the history.

The Scots are really angry about something happened about 300-odd years ago; the Irish about something that happened about 400 years ago; the Welsh about something that happened about 700-odd years ago. The English need to pin their juvenile and aimless aggression on to something historical and get a bit of respect for it. Maybe the Roman Occupation.

400 years ago? You might want to read a few history books Macca.

Yes, they need "singling out". Ryan has spent the entire thread telling his English counterparts they're a disgrace. If it's shit terminology then fair enough, but he was called out for it earlier in thread and has carried on just to antagonise more.
