For me, the really big difference from last season, is how we approach a game.
Last season, and the seasons before that, we took controll of the games, passed the ball around, crisp sharpe passing and then it finally opened them up. We didn't want them to have the ball, and always had most of the possesion.
This season, we can't string two passes together, give them ball away countless of times and hoof it at every chance.
For some reason, we can't use our central midfielders and we expect Gerrard and Torres to flick the ball in every move. Poor movement, bad decision making and a lack of belief in what we're actually doing.
Do we really miss Xabi that much? I don't know, but replacing him with a hopeless Brazilian has resulted in us losing the midfield domination we once had, and instead look like an unbalanced team.
Not seeing that the Lucas/Mascher combo doesn't work, is what really gets on my tits.
It comes down to the manager for me. He picks the team week in week out. Sure, the players haven't shown much heart in some games, but even that points in his direction. These players need a leader that can get the fire going in the dressing room, not a manager that doesn't talk because he's annoyed. We need someone to give them a bollocking, break some furniture and scream abuse once in a while.
Rafa sadly isn't a manager that can turn these things around, we need a change.
