2010 South Africa - This was the worst i remember.
2006 Germany - This was shit
2002 Japan / S. Korea - This was ok
1998 France - This was a good one
1994 US - This was a very good tourney.
1990 Italy - This was ok but reflected italy and was a bit dour.
1986 Mexico - This was amazing. Best tournament ever.
1982 Spain - This was ok. Bit dull.

Actually im not sure it matters given that Mexico and the US where probably the two best ive seen in my life.

I wouldn't mind it being in Qatar if they build stadiums like that!

I think England deserve it in 2018. We haven't had it since 1966 and we already have the stadiums and a massive following for the sport. Every match will be a sell-out, and every game will have a great atmosphere.

Fuck Spain. They had it in the eighties. And Russia is too big and cold. Nah.

Brazil will be amazing in 2014. So, so looking forward to that.

There were empty seats at Euro96 Squiggles. Not sure anyone will believe England can fill the stadiums.

Really? That's ridiculous.

If tickets aren't selling they should be sold cheaper on the door at the last minute. Empty seats always looks terrible.
I really dont think there were all that many unsold in 96. Not in any way like the mass empty banks seen in SA.
A lot of it is to do with pricing and a lot to do with corporate tickets remaining unsold.
I think weve as much chance of filling it as anyone else.
I understand Russia are massive favourites amongst those who know whats what.

There was actually a great game between Russia and a very good Czech side at Euro 96 Oncy. It was a thrilling 3-3 draw, watched by a paltry 21,000.... at Anfield.

Not according to TalkShite this evening. Putin's refused to come and that is apparently a strong signal that he thinks they're going to lose.

Nice one.

1982 – Have rose tinted specs for this one as we were in Espana on hols. Some great knockout games, top Final [9/10]
1986 – Started slowly, got good 2nd round on. Good Final [8/10]
1990 – Slow start, slow tempo games, quite cynical. Tedious Final [6/10]
1994 – Too hot, slow games. Some good 2nd round & QF games. Worst Final ever [6/10]
1998 – Good start, good 2nd round, plenty of decent goals. A good WC [8/10]
2002 – Too hot, slow games. Play-acting galore. Boring Final [5/10]
2006 – Too hot, slow games. Flat back 10s all round. Boring Final [5/10]
2010 – Boring from start to finish, slow games, overly cynical. Boring Final [3/10]

2018 - England
2022 - Would like to say Australia but I don't think they're even bothered that they're in the running

I don't think Russia should get either, it will end up another fixed World Cup. Japan had it in 2002 & can therefore do one.

I should go to countries who haven't had it but are open to travelling fans so the stadiums will be full.

2018 England

2022 Australia

Now I know yer not right on the head.

Spain '82 was a great tournament. Everything you've ever wanted to see in football including the best goal celebration is there.

USA '94. Fuck me. Started with a missed penalty and ended with one. Alright but dull.

I hope England get 2018. Football needs to come home again.

Australia 2022 is a must. Anyone who thinks hhis country will not put on a spectacle or isn't in to it is deluded.

The weather is perfect for football in June. There are already world class stadia here and some of the most passionate sports fans in the world.

Also, you cunts can experience football like we do... In the middle of the night

So on your criteria your first selection falls at the first hurdle. *ahem* You have heard of 1966 haven't you? Its the only time we've won it. Just in case no Englishman has never mentioned it to you....

;D

Hadn't heard about that before, John... Tell us about it, please. No controversy, I'll bet. Especially not in the final. That just wouldn't be cricket.

first and foremost i like countries to get it who really apreciate the honour, so european, south american and asian nations have first dibs there.

is football really a big enough deal for the people of autralia and USA that they should deprive devoted english or spanish fans from having it?

doubtful imo. mind you, i suppose wtf does that matter to FIFA when there are lucrative new markets to open up to the joys of the beautiful game?
Do you really think SA didn't 'appreciate the honour'?

We appreciated it so much we let FIFA fuck us in the ass repeatedly.

And Oncy, some stadiums may have appeared empty, but go have a look at where SA ended up in the world cup total attendance records.

Fuckin' haters.

Haha. Ave, as someone who was proud to have 'the honour' of hosting the cup in my country, I am probably more critical of our efforts than most.

The difference is that I am critical of things that actually happened.

Strong rumors that England went out in the first round of bidding and that Russia has got the 2018. Nothing official yet though.

Russia have got it apparently..

If true plenty of backhanders galore I imagine has secured that...

I also imagine Fifa will be ripped to bits over corruption etc, etc over the next few weeks... I guess thats one good thing to come out of it...

The most corrupt organisation holding an event in the most corrupt of wealthy nations? If you think there was corruption involved in the voting process just wait until the competition is up-and-running, Sepp will make Bill Gates seem like a pauper!

Blatter with the decision now. The rumours on the Beeb is that England have missed out.
