Will this start a much needed investigation about how corrupt FIFA are? Probably not. Which is a shame.
True about Dein Sunny, and I think he'll be our new CEO.

Anyway, means David Dein is looking for work....

It looks like someone already has him lined up for a job.

man oh man, i really really hope Israel qualify for Qatar 2022 ... what a headache, on so many levels, that will be!

Big Sam -

Qatar? Holding a World fucking Cup? They probably play the beautiful game on fucking elephants. What an outrage.

Really? That's ridiculous.

If tickets aren't selling they should be sold cheaper on the door at the last minute. Empty seats always looks terrible.
I really dont think there were all that many unsold in 96. Not in any way like the mass empty banks seen in SA.
A lot of it is to do with pricing and a lot to do with corporate tickets remaining unsold.
I think weve as much chance of filling it as anyone else.
I understand Russia are massive favourites amongst those who know whats what.
Not according to TalkShite this evening. Putin's refused to come and that is apparently a strong signal that he thinks they're going to lose.
Hmmmmmm!

Hahaha. That would be aces.

Qatar are a great footballing nation. Just look at their record in the Asian Cup

1976. Did not qualify.
1980. Defeated UAE, drew Malaysia, lost to South Korea and Kuwait. Eliminated in 1st round.
1984. Defeated South Korea, drew Saudi Arabia and Syria, lost to Kuwait. Eliminated in 1st round.
1988. Defeated UAE and Japan, lost to South Korea and Iran. Eliminated in 1st round.
1992. Drew Saudi Arabia and Thailand, lost to China. Eliminated in 1st round.
1996. Did not qualify.
2000. Drew Japan, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Advanced as 3rd place team, lost to China in QFs.
2004. Drew Bahrain, lost to China and Indonesia. Eliminated in 1st round.
2007. Drew Japan and Vietnam, lost to UAE. Eliminated in 1st round.

This was always going to happen. I believe Qatar spend the most money on bribing FIFA cunts. I fucking hate the middle east, I'm never going back there. The treatment of women is wrong, they hate Jews. I really hope Israel qualify too and expect no justice if you go there. Fucking ruined yet another World Cup I hope they pay. England forgot that you have to bribe these cunts! Same with Australia.

They need to come up with a new system of deciding why don't the fans get any cosiderqtion? 200 pound a night you say in Russia? It will be massive empty stadiums again then. I would like to go to the Brazil world cup if I can save up some money it should be the last great world cup for a while. If they actually manage to build the stadiums.

I just don't know what to say really.

Still speechless that Qatar won... Australia not getting it isn't what annoys me, its Qatar getting it... I'd have accepted the US winning it, but Qatar?

Are we really going to send most of the Western world to the middle of a warzone region?

What if Israel qualify?

No alcohol, no hookers 🙁 ... high security threat...

The Qatari national side will most likely be nationalised South Americans who'll change their name from Edison de Souza to Edison Al-Haqiri or someshit.

Just annoyed that whilst Australia's bid was clean of controversy, down to earth, proven track record with the Olympics and Commonwealth Games it was ignored completely by the FIFA delegates.

These ppl have no interest in delivering a quality run tournament, they are only interested in lining their own pockets with $$$ .. whilst most of us already knew this, the fact is now the whole world knows this.

And the fake Qatari celebrations when they were announced as hosts ... please.... it was announced on Qatari television a hour previously that they had won.

It hurts big time... but I'm proud that we put forward a clean and honest bid.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think its a bit sad that England/UK will have only had 1 WC in 100 years. Can't be right that.

Russia & Qatar? Sepp's grandkids will be getting good prezzies for Xmas.

Who exactly is going to go to the games in Qatar? Who exactly will be able to afford to go to the games in Russia?

Both WCs will be rigged, you can be sure of that.

It's mad that an organisation as big as fifa can be so corrupt. Empty stadiums and full wallets mean more to them than the game.

It's all zidanes fault

The thing I can't get about quatar is that if all the stadiums are within 30kms of each other and the state us the size if a large city then how the fuck do they plan on controlling the crowds. It's a nightmare. 2 weeks of potential riots.

No booze & of course lashes for offenders = minimal riots you would think.

Do you really think budweiser will just give up their sponsorship. There will be beer and their will be trouble of some sort

Ayway let's see how they go hosting the Asian cup in Jan.

A tournament which is always held in June & July....

But was moved to January this time around because ...... of the heat in Qatar in June & July!

I dont know but i think alot of the gnashing of teeth is little Englander mentality. The World cups get awarded to Russia, who've never had it before(!) and Qatar, a country in a whole region which has never had it before and everyone is left thinking it's clearly a fix.

Maybe it is.

I'm sure that some of the FIFA commitee are corrupt old men looking to line their pockets but not all of them surely. Money corrupts and football is big money so... I doubt very much that the English FA are squeaky clean either we were just outfought simple as that. From the reports i read it sounded like we made a good effort during the bid and im pleased we tried hard. I suspect that we probably did have a very good bid but the way things work FIFA look at a whole bigger picture and to a degree i see their point, why put the world cup in a country that already has football in the blood?

I'm really dissapointed that i will be an old man by the time we get it, if we get it again, but for us to feel aggrieved for not having it again when Russia have never had it is a bit rich. It makes sense.

As for the press although i'm pleased that ostensibly it is still a free press in England, generally i would say that their actions have been deplorable and short sighted. They could have brought peoples attention to corruption in a way which could have helped by publishing at the right time but instead they were sensationalistic and went in for the easy kill. First the Triesmann debacle then the Sunday times expose wades in followed by a national TV programme slating memebers of the commitee 2 days before the final negotiations... Too late to bring about any change but just in time to leave everyone feeling that the corruption is so rife and all those pesky foriegners all hate us, a stupid bullshit cheap shot.

I don't mind, I imagine i'll still be able to see the pitch in 2030 when i'm nearly 60! it would have been nice to have gone with my dad though because he never fails to go all misty eyed when talking about 66!

Maybe England will spare us more of that vapid cunt Beckham in future. I'm delighted you missed out, the thought of that bellend lapping it up for the next seven or eight years would have been unbearable.

Of course FIFA are corrupt, they're specifically excluded from corruption legislation in Switzerland. The clue is right there.

The last World Cup was a joke in South Africa, if FIFA want to continue to ruin the tournament let them. Russia's far right hoolligans will ruin the tournament there and I don't even know where to start with Qatar.

Nah.. I wouldn't be bothered if Spain or Holland or the US or Aus won the bids... but more people go and watch League 2 than watch the Russian Premier League... More people will go to watch football in England this weekend than live in Qatar. Russia and Qatar just shows that FIFA think of fans as a nasty side issue that have to be dealt with in order to get sponsors.

I'm not 'upset', I'm not a major fan of international tournaments, but these decisions are just woeful.

Couldn't agree more about Beckham, i'm sure his heart is in the right place but for my money he is the most over rated player of all time, a hundred and what caps now?? fucking hell... Im gutted we didnt get it but if it was based on the principle that the WC should go to new markets each time then basically ENgland will never have it again and for the amounts of footy fans we have that is really really sad.

Couldnt give shit about corruption, if it was corrupt and we knew so then we should have pulled out totally and caused an almighty stink or got down and dirty with the rest of em.

In my opinion, and how about this for nationalistic, it should never be governed by foriegners in the first place but that ship sailed long ago.

We knew FIFA was corrupt as hell before we spent £15M on a bid. We also knew FIFA hated us.

So you have to question why we bothered.

pathetic stuff.... really is..

the decision of Qatar makes no sense at all.

Australia has some excellent infestructure and is more than capable of hosting large events.. instead.. it goes to a country that has several families of billionaires while the rest of the country lives off rice and licking the underside of stones.
