Well, the chance to play for Liverpool might be just the carrot he needs.
Worked for Andy Carroll I suppose!!

He's been done two or three times for staggering around drunk in the streets and getting into arguments outside night clubs. His fitness has been a problem. Maybe he's ready to get himself back into shape and change his attitude. It's happened before.
Is this a committee or Klopp signing?

When we do bring in a top centre back, you'd have to think that Klopp is doing it with the longterm goal of replacing one of the existing ones, none of whom are infallible. I wouldn't lose any sleep if Sakho or Lovren go.
Caulker looked the business a couple of years back, but it smacks of desperation and just plugging a hole. That's if it's even true. According to idiots in the press, Pato was a done deal yesterday morning, until Klopp pissed on their chips.
Well, Dortmund blocked a move for Subotic. Schalke blocked a move for Matip in January because of Howedes injury and will rather lose him on a free.
Instead of buying some mediocre or loaning someone short term from another league with a huge loan fee, I can see why we opt for him on a short term loan.
He'll be 3rd/4th choice and is eligble in the FA cup and EL.
I'd rather Klopp gets his preferred targets in the summer and we dont see Lucas/Enrique at CB.

Got him without the obligatory SCM 40-page thread bonanza.
Why has he not been getting a game for Southampton? There's definitely a decent player in there. He's quick and good in the air (and a real threat from set-pieces– I remember him getting a few important goals for Cardiff). Happily take him.
He played for Southampton when we thrashed them in the league cup and had a poor game. As a cheap stop gap option he's ok but i would be surprised if he's here past the loan term.
Given Caulker's last game was when we raped S'hampton 6-1 you have to wonder whether Klopp has decided to overturn the longstanding Liverpool tradition of signing players who have played well against us. Lets go for players who are diabolical against us instead.
I think a lot of the anger and despair from some fans when this kind of link arises for a player on loan, or a player who isn't well known and is cheap and/or available, is also partly that underlying fear that we haven't got a pot to piss in, are a bit desperate and it is a sign of lean times ahead as we slide ever closer to mid-table mediocrity.
This is certainly desperate, due to our injury crisis, but I'm hopeful it's nothing more than that.
Normally players play worldie against us. But he's so shit he didn't even manage that. Awful signing.
Your are correct, if he can't step up playing against a team like us, then what the fuck will he do playing for us ?. Just seen his picture and I am worried he is a "cunt" type - who thinks he is the dogs bollox and has been looking for that big contract. Don't like the look of him.
