Arsene Wenger today labelled Rafa Benitez a 'super manager' as the Liverpool boss looks to revive our Champions League campaign in Lyon.

The Arsenal chief was quizzed on Liverpool's mixed start to the season which has left them needing victory in France tonight to get back into Group E contention.

Wenger pointed to Benitez's superb record in management as proof he was the right man to turn Liverpool's campaign around.

"Rafa Benitez is a super manager," said the Frenchman.

"We live in a world where democratic judgment is only in the present, and that's why it's very important to have directors who are strong enough to resist, as well to explain why they resist."

Thats as baffling a quote as ive ever read.

That's right up there with seagulls and trawlers for me.

These quotes could could be construed as self-serving from Wenger, but as managers go, I do quite like him.

He's a bit odd and a cunt in post match interviews, but he's a football man through and through, and has does an admirable job at Arsenal.

I wouldn't expect him to say anything else really, bit of a non-event. I'd say 99% of managers would say pretty much the same.

Wenger calls him a super manager

Gerrard says he's on another level to most managers in the world

Reina says he's building something special

Kenny Dalglish says he 's the right man for the job

But of course he should be sacked, well according to some of the experts on here he should

Wenger just means that too many people jump to kneejerk conclusions about football matters, and that club directors have to have a wider and more long-term vision than that.

This site has experts?

All he means is that he went through exactly the same shit last season and he's grateful that he wasn't sacked by Arsenal. Not really that mysterious is it?

I think that's about it ... or he's enjoying taking a shot at us while we're down.

Wenger and Rafa have never been at the races for the title at the same time. They have not directly competed apart from the Carling Cup. I can see why he doesn't mind Rafa.

The moment they are fighting for something, i can see Wenger being his usual self.

Wenger sticking up for you is as worrying as Rage or Glock giving Rafa a ringing endorsement.

I'm surpised he's even aware we're a club in crisis. Going on his past, I bet the boggy eyed cunt has struggled to 'see' a league table or newspaper.

Rafa may have an ally in the war against the world. Christ he could do with one.

Christ and Rafa against the world! I bet we'll be reborn after tonight and go on to win a treble

You can't expect any of them to say any different though. They wouldn't want to create unecessary controversy.

My Man U mates think he's great as well and are desperate for him to stay.

You have Manc mates?

Super manager? Tee hee!

You know what's the difference between Rafael and Wenger this season? Both sold two of their best players. Wenger spent 10mil only on one centre back while Rafael spent 37 mil on two players. One is still out injured and the other is average in defence.

The difference is one complaints a lot and the other doesn't. Only Rafael because he can't do anything else.

Rafael OUT!!
