Given Kenny's picked back room staff and new players it seems unlikely that he's viewing the role as temporary. It would be very difficult for the board to replace him if the current progress continues. Only the availability of someone like Mourinho would change things surely?
Would you take Mourinho over Kenny in the summer?

What do you mean about the current progress? Think back a couple of months. Your club was in the dirt and was turning into Fulham. There were 10.00 empty seats at Anfield during match day and those who came were singing "youll get sacked in the morning" to the Liveprool manager. It was bizarre. And then you look today.... The progress will continue, but it is allready a change made in heaven.

If Mourinho officially declares that he wants the job, it's gonna be hard for the board to turn him down.

I would tell him to stuff it, and luckily we have owners that will do the same.

Well it's not your decision and the board might not be following your "tankegang".

look at jose at madrid, can make no inroads on them despite his lavishly expensive squad. the deal would be the same at liverpool, he wouldn't have carte blanche with signings and would be up against stronger squads. jose wouldn't come here as he would feel it would tarnish his rep if he failed to succeed.

Eh? Real's record this season is 17-3-2. There's no team in the world that could match Barca at the moment but that's hardly Mourinho's fault.

But still people dont credit Pellegrini for doing an even better job for Real last year, and playing better footie along the way.

Jose is irritating. he got plenty to spend in the summer and strenghtened a very good Real squad... Still he moans about how he needs this and that to be able to compete...

Well that's just Real Madrid for you.

His league record is still hard to criticize imo. It would be hard to combine a team able to match Barca from all the players in the world.

He does seem to be pissed off though and probably due to all the politics and shit going on at the Madrid soap opera.

Say what you want about Jose the man, but as a club manager there simply is none better out there.

That said, with each day that passes it becomes harder to see anyone replacing the King, and I say that as someone who would have welcomed Jose as Roy's successor if he'd been interested.

I don't get the point Insig is trying to make. I think practically everyone wants Kenny as manager and wants it to be a success, I also think most people are level headed enough to want what's best for the club overall and many also realise that what Kenny wants is also a big factor in all of this.

Gut feeling? He wants the job longterm. Though I think he always did, he probably didn't want the pressure early on (and rightly so), so he's respectfully only talked about the short term and getting Liverpool to a respectable position this season.

I'm sure once the Summer comes, the future will be tackled one way or another for the good of the club, by all involved, including Kenny. If it goes well this season then hopefully the fairytale will continue, but if it doesn't...... as unlikely as that seems now, then big decisions need to be made for the future of the club. As foolish as it would be to write Kenny off or dismiss his current role as nothing more than a caretaker, it'd be foolish to put all our eggs in one basket right now. As has been said loads of times, it'll be sorted at the end of the season, which is probably the right time to assess everything as a club and for Kenny himself.

Kenny vs. Mourinho

Kenny plays more attractive football and has also won league titles albeit 20 odd years ago. He was brought up in TLW and has re-invigorated the club, re-instilled the values, building momentum and taking us forward. Those are huge factors.

Mourinho is a winner. He will come in and want a huge cheque book to make sweeping changes. His is oft touted as a tactical genius and can't break Barca's monopoly in Spain with the talent at his disposal?

I'd be tempted but my heart belongs to the King!

People say "Then again if we continue this streak, get a CL spot and win the Euro League the decision to keep Dalglish would be made for them by the fans. "

I will not patonize you guys. But you havent got a clue. You expect miracles when it comes to results, with what is highly regarded as a poor squad. But Kenny right now is not about results. It is about pure presence. he took your beloved club out of the dirt and gave it right back at you. Suddenly you felt proud to be red. Suddenløy you kept your high up in footie discussions. Suddenly you started to read interviews of the Liverpool manager with a lifted mood. And you dare to say, wait and see who is available? There is noone available like King Kenny. he is the last samurai. You should cherish every day he is here as if it was his last, because the only bad thing about him is that one day will be his last. You should pray that he stays for 5 more years, and after that it all starts with an S and have a mustache again.

Who could be available better than Kenny? Who?

Kenny is the last of the line who knows 100% what this club is all about and will deliver by that. What does he have to prove to any of you? he won you the league 3 of the 5 last seasons he was here. What else does he need to prove? Nothing. Zip. He is Liverpool FC, and there is no reason to wait.
Hang on a sec, aren't you the guy that started the Yanks Out thread a couple months into their tenure?
Har har...

more light needs to be shed on this...

My point, maybe not a big one but still, is that all doubts regarding Kenny as permanent manager was down to if he had been out of the game too long to copy now. People have gone on all season, and rightly so, that our squad is not a top four squad. Still they need Kenny to prove he can drag it from 4 points off relegation to top four by end of season to be given the job permanently.

And people also say we should see who is available at the summer. Who could that manager be? Some unproven 33 year old lad from Portugal, or a 40 year old german who vcan look smart in a V-neck? None, and I include Jose Mourinho, is better suited for this job. It is more than the results. It is the mare presence of King Kenny that lifts everyone. I know I would have snapped your hands off if you had offered me a draw before sundays clash. I didnt think we stood a chance. So it is not the result alone. We are suddenly a we again. And a few months back that was unthinkable. We dont know how lucky we are to have him, and we dare to say "lets see who is available in the summer". Thats my small point.

No-one's saying "let's see who's available in the summer". What we're saying is "let's see how things have gone in the meantime, and then make a final decision". Kenny being caretaker meanwhile gives him and the whole club room to breathe.

I don't have a problem with that. In the summer we look at how the rest of the season's gone under Kenny. If it goes well and he wants the job, fine. If not, of course we have to see who else might be (a) interested and (b) of the right standard.

Thats were I think we are disrespectful. Are we doubting Kennys integrity to perform every week? he has shown the apetite for the job, and he has delivered much more than expected from him in 28 days.

We have found the breathingrythm again. Now we need to start building the squad for next season. The sooner we know that kenny is the man to do the job the better. He can allready start looking at possible targets, look at what needs to get rid of, who can we add from the reserves etc. No point in waiting.

I wouldnt bet on it. Kenny or whoever is manager will have his say on it anyway. I.e. I am not sure Andy Carroll is a Comolli product, but more a kenny product.

I had a few doubts about Kenny getting the job after Rafa then Roy left, but after only a short time of him being in charge i can't quite believe how right it feels in every possible way.

Forget the fact that it's King Kenny and just judge him on the results he's achieved to date.

Up to our highest league position so far this season (actually dreaming about maybe getting CL footy again this season).
Dealt with the El Judas situation in a fantastic manner.
Looks like the players respect him and more importantly are playing for him.
Has managed to get every single LFC fan behind him and the club again.
Represents our club impeccably when in front of the media.
Got rid of that useless fucker known as Babel.

If any man had come in and done the listed things above then i'd want him to get the job full time, the fact that it is King Kenny just makes it all the more sweeter. I'd like him to get his new contract now, so that it will add that little bit more security + the players who we'll be currently looking at bringing in this summer will be in no doubt who they'll be playing under come next season.

Welcome home Kenny, i've missed you!

Agreed with all of that; especially the media bit.

The media loved to goad and bait Rafa, and unfortunately it often worked.

As for Roy, fuck me.

With Kenny, you can tell that these fuckers are a lot more wary.
