And Rush reckons you only have to look at his former club Liverpool and the change Kenny Dalglish has made since his Anfield return to see a bit of belief and hard work can make all the difference.

“In my days at Liverpool we had some great players and were a good team – but what us a great team was the way we were prepared to fight for each other,†he said.

“Look at them now and Kenny has taken pretty much the same group of players and made sure they know they have to work to make their talent count and they’ve found the belief they need from that.

“He has always made sure there is a philosophy at Liverpool that you should be privileged to wear the shirt and no player is bigger than the club – and that’s the same with Wales.

“We have some fantastic individuals but it’s the work of the team that will make the difference.€
